    Outreach & Connections Pastor

    Mike Walker became Senior Pastor of The Bayou Church (formerly known as East Bayou Baptist Church) in 1984 with 100 people who believed in communicating the Great Commission in culturally relevant ways. There were two buildings on the Kaliste Saloom Road property back then. Since that time, new expanded ministry centers have been built to accommodate the growth the church has seen. Known for their contemporary music style and engaging children’s ministries, The Bayou draws people from all over the Acadiana region. Currently, 2300 people attend The Bayou every weekend at one of two campuses. They are passionate about seeing people come to a saving faith in Christ and 65% of the baptisms every year are adult faith conversions.

    The heart of the leadership and community of The Bayou Church is to communicate the gospel in a culturally relevant way. Services are designed to welcome all into a communal time of worship and growth. The Outreach and Connections Pastor is responsible to the church for the overall leadership of the outreach and assimilation strategy for all The Bayou Church campuses. The successful candidate will be able to equip all members to share the Gospel and provide opportunities for people to reach and be reached. This includes such ministries as missions, hospitality, parking, and the first impressions team. The ideal candidate will successfully provide development and leadership to the campus pastor of the Youngsville campus.

    The successful candidate will  possess communication skills such as teaching, leading meetings, and public relations with proven experience building and executing effective ministry teams and strategies with community, evangelistic and missional impact. They will have a collaborative leadership style that functions well at all levels of an organization as well as the ability to win people over and bring out the best in them. They will develop a strategic plan for implementing outreach within a multisite church environment.

    Lafayette, recently named "the happiest city in America," is the fourth largest city in Louisiana and is known for its rich Cajun heritage, delicious food and joie de vivre.  As of the census of 2010, there were 120,623 people, residing in the city. It is quickly becoming a hub of business, technology, medicine, and arts in the state of Louisiana. Experiencing the Cajun culture is like no other. The Acadians of today are a family -oriented, hard-working, fun-loving, and devout religious folk. They work and play with equal enthusiasm. The Cajun's pleasure-loving nature expresses itself in the community festivals, dancing, and food that are integral parts of bayou life.
