Scheduling and coordinating practice/rehearsal times, etc. as well as providing necessary equipment, direction and training for volunteers are additional responsibilities in this area of ministry. They will be responsible for planning all technical aspects of worship services as well as the supervision/training of sound, lighting, and multi-media volunteer technicians. In addition, the Worship Arts Director is also responsible for working to ensure that all instruments, as well as lighting, sound, and multi-media equipment is in proper working condition and available for use. Assisting with helping plan for future equipment needs and priorities, as well as providing for the proper protection and inventory of church equipment are additional responsibilities in this area of ministry.
Formal education is not a predetermining factor for the selection of the new Worship Arts Director. However, it is likely that they will hold a Bachelor’s degree. The ideal Worship Arts Director candidate would likely have a minimum of three years experience in a Medium to Large church, actively engaged in the direction, leadership, and execution of a successful Worship Service Ministry. The ideal Worship Arts Director candidate would have experience in communication, effectively expressing ideas and communicating the Word of God in a highly relevant an innovative manner.
