Oak Ridge Baptist Church, Salisbury, MD
Oak Ridge Baptist Church (ORBC) is a growing and thriving congregation located on the Maryland peninsula in Salisbury. With a long church history, Oak Ridge has been through several location changes and difficult seasons prior to the current season of ministry. Led by the dynamic pastor Brian Moss, Oak Ridge is currently in an exciting season marked by the launch of their second campus in Delaware, with many more on the horizon. In the last 10 years, Pastor Brian Moss has led a transformation of ORBC. What was only a handful of people in a small facility is now a church of approximately 1,500. ORBC has become well known in the community and beyond for being very strategic in their ability to reach families and individuals in the area and equipping them with a biblical understanding and worldview, as well as a place of relevant worship. Many of the strategies and programs employed by ORBC are a result of their relationship with and learning from Saddleback Church in California.
Oak Ridge is made up of all generations and ethnicities, as well as a multitude of children. The primary profile of visitors and attenders is young families. The church has posted an annual positive growth rate in every year of Pastor Brian's tenure. ORBC is housed on an innovative campus of 50,000 square feet within a strip mall that the church owns and rents to various tenants. They house a campus video venue with a country worship experience that has been a success. The entire campus venue carries a simple, inviting theme and includes spacious parking, seating, advanced technical equipment, and space for future growth. There are three Sunday worship services at the live venue in Salisbury. All services are identical in style and employ contemporary music in the vein of Hillsong United, Crowder, Tomlin, etc., as well as live relational preaching by Pastor Brian or one of the other teaching pastors. There is also a country music video venue on site that meets simultaneously as the live venue during the 10:30am service.
The Worship Pastor will serve as the team leader and worship leader for the live venue at the Oak Ridge Baptist Church main campus. They will serve as the chief worship leader week to week as well as raise up other leaders within the Oak Ridge family to take on roles of leadership. They will work with the Venue Pastor and the Lead Pastor to create an upbeat, energetic, genuine worship environment that will enhance the weekend experience in a real and spiritual way, as well as support the weekend theme and message.
The Worship Pastor will be responsible for building a leadership pipeline in the worship arts ministry. While they will bring a level of excellence in their work, they will see their role as an opportunity to do ministry and pour into others. The ideal candidate will have a heart for leading people as well as other musicians to faith. The ideal candidate will be able to replicate other leaders for future Oak Ridge campuses, so that as the planned campus expansion becomes a reality, the right leaders will already be in the right seats on the bus. They will also stay up to date with new trends, musical genres, and be instrumental in keeping Oak Ridge current from a worship standpoint.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working in a setting committed to reaching the unchurched with a high degree of innovation, recruitment, and retention of new members. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience working in a local church as well as the potential to thrive in a setting much larger than the current size of Oak Ridge. Formal education is not a predetermining factor for the selection of the new Worship Pastor. However, it is likely that they will hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
