Vail Christian Church, Tucson, AZ
Vail Christian Church was launched eight years ago, a church plant from Pantano Christian Church in Tucson. Starting with a group of about 35 people, the church has become the largest in the Vail area, averaging about 600 attenders on Sundays. The demographic of the church is young, with children comprising about one-third of the attendance on Sundays. The church currently meets at Empire High School, one of two high schools in the Vail community. Vail Christian Church purchased ten acres in 2013, and the plans are to break ground on a multi-purpose facility in February 2015. Vail Christian Chuch's vision is to make room in life to connect people with God and others, and their purpose is to lead more people to take their next step in the journey toward God.
Vail Christian Church currently has two Sunday morning services that meet at 9:00 & 10:30 a.m. The services are designed to be an hour long. The services typically include worship music, practical Bible teaching, creative elements, communion, and prayer. The worship atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. The musical style is driven by a band and contemporary, with songs by Chris Tomlin, Matt Maher, Hillsong, or Lincoln Brewster, and other contemporary writers. The teaching is driven by the biblical text and applicable for everyday life.
The Worship Pastor will be responsible to continue developing, implementing, and maintaining the means for worship to fit into the overall vision of Vail Christian Church. The successful candidate will have excellent worship leading skills and be able to develop, equip, and train teams and bands. As a part of the pastoral staff, the Worship Pastor will participate in the general pastoral care of the congregation.
The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills and the ability to lead worship with guitar and/or keyboard. They will also be technologically savvy. They will likely have a college degree, and a degree in a ministry related area would be a plus.
Vail is an unincorporated community southeast of Tucson. The 2010 census population was 10,208, but with a number of housing communities built by nationally known developers, the current population is over 20,000. The rapid growth is most likely the result of great schools (the top school district in Arizona) and affordable housing. Vail is primarily a residential community, with a great percentage being young families. The area is also known for the nearby Colossal Cave, a large cave system, and the Rincon Mountains District of Saguaro National Park, a top tourism spot within Arizona. Whatever the reason—weather, educational institutions, clean and dry air, affordable housing, employment, retirement, or just the beautiful southwest—Tucson, the 33rd largest city in the United States, is a great place to live!
