Search Specialist

Rusty Gates is a member of the Candidate Relations Team at Vanderbloemen Search Group.

Prior to his time at Vanderbloemen, Rusty served on pastoral staff at Bloom Church in Denver, Colorado, where he oversaw a network of House Churches and served as the primary connection for visitors. It was through his ministry that he saw firsthand the variety of gifts and passions of individuals in the church and how important it is to the Kingdom of God that these gifts and passions are given a space to flourish.

In his role on the Candidate Relations Team, Rusty helps ensure that highly qualified candidates fit the ministerial and spiritual needs of Vanderbloemen Search Group’s clients. He guides candidates through the Vanderbloemen interview process as well as proactively search for candidates on behalf of Vanderbloemen's clients.

Rusty received his Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Biblical Studies from Dallas Baptist University and completed his Master of Divinity at Denver Seminary. Through his studies, he developed a deep appreciation for historical theology and church history, which in turn has shown him the deep beauty found within the diversity of the Church.

Rusty is a native Texan hailing from Dallas. Rusty and his wife Jess have a son named Oliver and a small dog named Boomer who is everyone’s favorite small dog. In his spare time Rusty can be found doing various art projects, reading, and rock climbing.
