This week, William talks with Dave Workman, the president and co-founder of The Elemental Group, and the previous Senior Pastor of Vineyard Cincinnati.

Dave was instrumental in the growth of the Vineyard Cincinnati megachurch from its inception and went on to lead the staff for 30 years. He is the author of Elemental Leaders: Four Essentials Every Leader Needs…And Every Church Must Have and The Outward-Focused Life: Becoming a Servant in a Serve-Me World. He is currently focusing on his work with Elemental Churches, which provides cost-effective resources to churches and faith-based organizations.

On today’s podcast conversation, William and Dave discuss the transition pastors endure as they step away from their ministry role, whether it be to retire or simply obey God’s calling to switch careers. They talk about the process of serving faithfully, letting go in due time, and allowing God to reassign you in a fruitful way. Dave shares the struggles he experienced after leaving his pastoral position, and how trusting the Lord brought peace during a freefall period.

Dave’s vulnerability about the difficulty of leaving a church community is insightful for ministry leaders who will one day follow in his footsteps.
