Meet Atlantic Shores Baptist Church:

Founded independently in 1981 by Pastor George Sweet, a graduate of Liberty  University, Atlantic Shores Baptist Church grew from one family to a large church with  an emphasis on outreach, discipleship, strong family values, and community. Today, the  church affiliates with the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) and the Southern Baptist  Conservatives of Virginia (SBCV). The church occupies 14.5 acres at one of Virginia  Beach’s busiest intersections. More than 1,500 people call Atlantic Shores their church  home.  

Atlantic Shores has a strong vision and track record for reaching the community and the  world. The church also has a long-standing reputation for large scale outreach events  like Hallelujah Harvest which consistently draws between 6,000 and 10,000 people to  our campus in the fall for the seasonal experience. The church family takes seriously its  mission to “glorify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ who go and make disciples”  by creating disciple-making environments and strategies that include life groups, small  group Bible studies, the Shores Bible Institute, and intentional discipleship coaching  experiences. 

Atlantic Shores began its 40th year of ministry in October 2020 while at the same time  Dr. Ron Jones began his sixth year of ministry at the church as the fourth Lead Pastor.  At this strategic milestone in the life of the church, Atlantic Shores is reaching  FORWARD (https://atlanticshoresforward.org/)  to what lies ahead with plans for a major campus renovation, continued  ministry revitalization, and church planting initiatives at home and around the world.  

Something Good with Dr. Ron Jones is a daily radio outreach that extends Ron’s Bible  teaching for everyday life across the Hampton Roads area, the United States, and  globally. A large majority of new people who come to Atlantic Shores first hear about the  church on Something Good Radio. The church is enlarging its media outreach through  live stream and anticipates the soon release of Something Good Television (SGTV). 

 

About the Director of Media Production and Digital Communications:

The Director of Media Production and Digital Communications at Atlantic Shores  oversees, manages, directs, produces, and implements all internal and external media  production and digital communications in a way that helps us fulfill our mission to glorify  God by making disciples of Jesus Christ who go and make disciples.   This role will have a priority on television production and media.

The Director of Media Production and Digital Communications Will: 

  • Oversees, manages, and directs all media production in the church, including, but not  limited to, weekly live stream worship and television broadcasts, promotional videos,  and social media clips. 

  • Oversee and produce the live stream online mix. 

  • Collaborates with the worship planning team to create, direct, and produce video  segments for in-person and live stream worship gatherings and television broadcasts. 

  • Oversees, directs, coordinates, writes, edits, and administers all internal and external  communication activities. 

  • Maintain, oversee, and strategically broaden the church’s social media presence. Oversees and manages the Atlantic Shores website. 

  • Responsible for smooth communication and coordination with graphic artists ensuring  that new graphics for upcoming events, sermon series, and/or other updates are  proactively designed and implemented. 

  • Oversees, develops, manages, and implements the Atlantic Shores Brand and branding  guidelines. 

  • Recruits, equips, schedules, and oversees a team of media production volunteers. Protects and maintains all media production equipment in good working order. 

  • Gives oversight for the development and management of the Media and  Communications Ministry budget.

What You Bring: 

Education & Experience

While education is not the primary consideration in the selection of the next Director of  Media Production and Digital Communications, the successful candidate will have  earned, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a  discipline related to media production and digital communications. The candidate will also have approximately three or more years of relevant experience.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Gifted and creative person in the art of video and television production and direction. 

  • Professional experience in large production settings: audio, multi-camera video, and  lighting. Television experience preferred.  

  • Working knowledge of Planning Center Online and ProPresenter, and other related  applications. 

  • Fluent in the following production and design software programs: Adobe Creative Suite  (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere) 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Capable graphic design skills a plus. Able to manage third party graphic design vendors  to start and complete projects on time.  

  • Able to multi-task within various ministries in a way that starts, completes, and  implements communication across multiple internal/external channels in a timely  manner. 

  • Proven track record in growing the social media presence of a church, non-profit, or  business.

What it's Like to Live in Virginia Beach, Virginia:

Virginia Beach is the most populous city in Virginia, as well as the 39th most populous  in the United States. Located on the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of the Chesapeake  Bay, Virginia Beach is included in the Hampton Roads metropolitan area. This area, 

known as "America's First Region," also includes the independent cities of Chesapeake,  Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Suffolk, as well as other smaller  cities, counties, and towns of Hampton Roads.
