The Role: The overall goal of the Children’s Pastor is to interpret the vision of Church on the Hill -- to help people Know God, Find Freedom, Discover Purpose and Play a Role in God’s Story -- into the life of our children and their parents.
Meet Church on the Hill:
Church on the Hill began on March 26, 1911 and met at various locations until 1981. In 1981, Church on the Hill broke ground and moved to its current location at 700 N. Hill Road. In 1999, Pastor Jerry Moen became the Lead Pastor and served for 17 years.
In these years, Church on the Hill remodeled the lower level classroom spaces, constructed a state-of-the-art Children’s Wing, and built Scotty’s Playhouse (an indoor children’s play structure).
Today, Church on the Hill is led by Pastor Dave Anderson, who was hired as the Lead Pastor in July 2017. Since then, Church on the Hill has implemented a new vision, eliminated all financial debt, purchased 5 acres of adjacent land with cash, and made various facility upgrades. The people of Church on the Hill are excited to work together in expanding God’s kingdom in in our city and county.
About the Children's Pastor:
The overall goal of the Children’s Pastor is to interpret the vision of Church on the Hill -- to help people Know God, Find Freedom, Discover Purpose and Play a Role in God’s Story -- into the life of our children and their parents.
The Children’s Pastor will serve as the leader of our Children’s Ministry team, which ministers to families with children from birth to fifth grade.
The Children's Pastor will:
Lead Church on the Hill in helping parents spiritually form their children.
Oversee Kids’ Church and Kids’ Ministries (including Scotty’s Playhouse).
Provide mentoring, support, and leadership to our Early Childhood Director, Discovery Zone Director, and volunteers who have a passion to help children reach their God-given potential.
Interface with our LifeTrack Director to unleash people who have a passion for Kids’ Ministry and to help them live out their passion.
Create ways (including “fun” ways) in which Church on the Hill can help children learn what it means to Know God, Find Freedom, Discover Purpose, and Play a Role in God’s Story.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as teaching, education, Youth Ministry, Bible, or similar. A seminary degree is not required but is a great bonus.
The ideal candidate will have five to ten years of experience in a ministry role or a role working with children or youth.

Someone who wants to go on an interesting, adventurous, but sometimes hazardous journey.
Someone who is willing to die to self and who is willing to sacrifice and to suffer for the sake and benefit of children and parents in order to help them know God, find freedom, discover their God-purpose, and play their role in God’s story.
Someone who embraces a team-based ministry experience, i.e., who wants to be a part of a team and wants to develop a team.
Someone who wants to experience joy, peace, spiritual growth, leadership development, fun, creativity, and out-of-the box thinking.
