Church on the Move

Kid's Pastor

Tulsa, Oklahoma

Denomination: Non-Denominational

Weekly Attendance: 7,000

Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma

The Role: Kid's Pastor

Meet Church on the Move:

On July 5, 1987, Pastors Willie and Deleva George launched Church on the Move in a banquet room of a Marriott hotel. By January of 1991, we had grown to 3,000 people and we were becoming one of the nation’s largest, most innovative churches.

In 2002, our passion for reaching the next generation pushed us to begin using creativity, sketches, and stories of life change differently. We started teaching on topics we hadn’t talked about before, and over the next couple of years, our passion for creativity grew. As we wrapped up our 25th anniversary, God began to lead us to go beyond just coming to church, learning, and leaving. We wanted to see a deeper connection and community within our church. We introduced small groups, launched our first satellite campus in Glenpool, and began reaching out into the broken parts of our city, our nation, and our world through radical generosity and service. Creating a church where both believers and doubters would feel welcomed and safe to ask tough questions.

In July 2017, we announced our new Lead Pastors, Whit and Heather George, and with the transition came our next phase of ministry - introducing people to the real Jesus.  Since then, we’ve launched additional church locations in Broken Arrow and two satellite churches in two Oklahoma prisons.  In 2021, Church on the Move West was introduced to our family of churches, integrating our Glenpool congregation with another well-established congregation already serving the communities of Berryhill, Sapulpa, Sand Springs, and West Tulsa. We’re on a mission to reach those who desire not a religion, but those who want a real authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.
