#1 WELCOME TO CORNERSTONE

Meet Cornerstone Ministries:

Cornerstone Ministries is a Non-Denominational church in Murrysville, Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh. We offer a casual, come-as-you-are environment. Services are held on Saturday evenings at 6 p.m. and Sunday mornings at 9 & 11 a.m. On Sundays, we have two church venues to choose from: the main Sanctuary or The Loft, our smaller upstairs video venue with a coffee bar.

After nearly 30 years in ministry experience, Pastor Donn Chapman brought his passion for God and people to Cornerstone Ministries. He has served here as the Senior Pastor for 21 years. During this time, Cornerstone has experienced incredible stability, growth, and development, all of which, Pastor Donn credits to the Lord. In addition, his compassion for the hurting has led to the creation of Uncommon Service Weekend-Cornerstone’s wide-scale community service event, The Hope Center for providing home and car repairs for those who can’t afford it, and the support of multiple orphanages, missions, churches, and communities in Africa, India, and many other countries around the world.

 

About the Communications Director:

Cornerstone Ministries’ Communications Director is responsible for the visionary leadership, marketing, and communication strategies of the church. This person will develop, design, organize, and implement the activities associated with all external and internal communications. They will manage contractors and vendors related to communication to ensure operational efficiency and consistency in our marketing message. They will be responsible for all social media advertising.

#2 PROMOTING MISSIONS

The Communications Director Will Achieve the Following: 

Responsibilities

  • Develop, define, and implement the marketing strategies and vision of Cornerstone Ministries. 

  • Direct, manage, maintain, and support all digital media. (Website, Facebook, Twitter etc.)  Manage a regular posting schedule, content optimization, understanding the nuances of each platform and responding to followers. Help drive people to Cornerstone Ministries. 

  • Keep the ministry marketing message consistent and organized across all social media outlets - one clear concise message. 

  • Partner with all individual department ministries to help them communicate their objectives.

  • Keep ears open to stories of life-change within the church. Develop ways to creatively communicate those stores via video, interviews, website, etc.

  • Oversee and execute weekly process and content for worship bulletins, inserts, posters, monitor slides, all outside signage messages, etc.

  • Work with church and ministry leaders to develop marketing and communications processes and define priorities to create an environment in which messages can be communicated clearly, creatively, and effectively.

  • Create and implement a strategy for Cornerstone Ministries to become more visible in the community.

  • Write and edit communication messages for use in various mediums and audiences.

  • Facilitate proactive communication ideas, calendaring, and church wide ministry specific initiatives. 

  • Serve as the eyes for all things print and electronic, looking for clear communication, brand presence, and consistency.

  • Employ strong project management skills and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, consistently delivering high quality results.

  • Invite, instruct, inspire, and invest in volunteers and their teams.

  • Develop  the annual Communications Budget and assume responsibility for adhering to financial and budget guidelines of Cornerstone Ministries.

  • Engage in professional development opportunities by attending workshops, seminars, and other churches at least once per year and remain current in the trends and tools that affect the Communications Department.

Ministerial Responsibilities

  • Provide servant leadership in helping to support and fulfill the mission, vision, core values, and goals of the church.

  • Have a commitment to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

  • Be loyal to Cornerstone Ministries, the Senior Pastor, and the Pastoral Team.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to Christian living, espouse a Christian philosophy of life, and have a belief in the Christian Church and her teachings in accordance with Cornerstone’s stated policies and beliefs.

  • Assist others to cultivate intimacy with God and growth in Christ-like character through personal and corporate personal disciplines.

  • Assist in conveying Cornerstone’s message and carrying out its mission and leading others toward Christian maturity.

  • Model the highest Christian virtues and personal decorum (1 Timothy 4:12). 

  • Be an active member of Cornerstone Ministries.

  • Become a Cleared Adult as outlined in Cornerstone Ministries A Safe Place for Kids policy.

#3 CHRISTMAS WORSHIP

What You Bring: 

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, or related field.

  • Related Ministry / Communications experience of 5+ years.

Skills & Personal Characteristics

  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

  • Be an expert in the communications realm. 

  • Strong skills to use and develop multiple media options to reach target audiences.

  • Strong computer skills in the areas of design / layout / text for all multimedia. Photoshop experience preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft and Mac environments will be helpful.

  • Strong writing, artistic, listening, desktop publishing, and photography skills.

  • Solid organizational skills.

  • Ability to meet prescribed goals as established by the church.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Someone who is eager to make a major impact on the community around them.

#4 HIGH SCHOOL MISSIONS

What it's Like to Live in Murrysville, Pennsylvania: 

Murrysville, Pennsylvania is a great little  community of Pittsburgh to settle down in. It is quiet, small, and very family friendly. It also has pretty much every type of restaurant you could want. From the North Park Lounge to Burgatory, there are eating options for every pallet. Murrysville is surrounded by forests, making it a beautiful area to explore with various parks and hiking trails. It has a good school system and a good community and, overall, a family-oriented atmosphere.

If you are looking for a little more activity, it is only a quick 15-20 minute drive to the big city of Pittsburgh, where the options are endless. You can always find big sporting events in the city as well as plenty to do downtown. It is full of fine dining, trendy shops, parks, plazas, and art museums. If you want a full view of the surrounding areas, Mount Washington is where you want to go. At 376 feet, it is the highest point in the city, and it is the place where almost all of the cityscape photos of Pittsburgh have been taken.

These are some of the reasons that Murrysville, Pennsylvania will make a wonderful home. You can enjoy the calm solitude of the small town while still being so close to the energy of the big city. Murrysville provides a perfect middle ground and offers everything you could ever need.
