What it's Like to Live in Elk Grove, California:

Creekside Christian Church is situated in the heart of Elk Grove, CA, which is a part of the Sacramento metropolitan area. Elk Grove was founded in I 850 as a stage stop for travelers coming from Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay area. To accommodate travelers, the Elk Grove Hotel and Stage Stop was opened and the town was subsequently named after it. Over the coming decades, Elk Grove would remain a small farming community with little urban development.

However, in the late 1980's, suburban development projects began to spring up around the community, specifically in the north near Sacramento. These were meant to serve Sacramento's population as well as San Francisco commuters looking for a community relatively near the San Francisco Bay area that they could settle in and still commute. This set off a period of rapid suburban growth that hit its peak in the years 2004 and 2005 when Elk Grove was declared the fastest growing city in the United States. While growth was stable for a while  large numbers of homes are slated to be built in Elk Grove in the next several years, making additional growth and expansion  inevitable, possibly topping a population of over 200K.

Elk Grove is a great place to live. Located just south of the capital, Elk Grove is an ethnically diverse community where opportunity can be found in every corner and is home to an entrepreneurial spirit and superior quality of life. The city's location provides easy access to two major freeways and the Sacramento International Airport.  The area is known for a variety of outstanding restaurants, a historic downtown district, over 90 first-rate parks, sports and aquatic centers, recreational venues, 18 miles of off-street trails, and much more. The Elk Grove Unified School district is the second most ethnically diverse district in California and notably one of the best in the state. All this, combined with Elk Grove's proximity to the recreational areas of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, makes this town an ideal location to raise a family and experience the best that life has to offer.
