The Role: Youth Director

About the Organization:

Crossview Covenant Church of North Mankato, Minnesota is a 131-year old congregation of the Evangelical Covenant Church denomination. While possessing a long history, Crossview is committed to a vibrant and growing future. Guided by the leadership of gifted staff and deeply committed members, Crossview is a church that seeks to honor this deep and rich history but is becoming more and more willing to change and adapt. Possessing a significant sense of new energy and direction, Crossview is open to exploring new expressions of its identity and ministry.

Known as a welcoming, caring, and forgiving place that feels like family to many who attend, multiple generations and diverse theological and denominational backgrounds gather at Crossview. The people of Crossview Covenant possess a strong desire to share God’s love with one another and with those beyond the walls of the church.

Crossview is a congregation made up of 600+ members, with an average of 750 attending Sunday services offered at 9:00 and 10:30 a.m. Worship at Crossview has been described as strong, upbeat, and vital (pre-COVID). The services are casual and approachable, non-ritualistic but still retaining value for and a sense of tradition.

Three emphases guide the life and ministry of Crossview: worship, community and service. It is the desire of the leadership at Crossview that each and every member and participant experiences life-giving worship of the living God in a meaningful way; participates in a smaller community where ‘life is done together’, faith can be shared, and spiritual formation occurs; and seeks to engage the local community and the world at large through acts of justice, mercy, and service.

Crossview Covenant Church offers many and varied small group and Bible study opportunities for adults. Currently, there are over 40+ small community groups. These spiritual formation experiences include long-standing small groups, short-term small community experiences, and ‘next step’ classes offered on Sunday mornings.

Believing that purposeful spiritual formation of the next generation will both strengthen the church of today and equip the saints of tomorrow to further God’s Kingdom on earth, Crossview strives to introduce children, youth, and young adults to Jesus Christ, surround them with faithful Christ followers who engage them in supportive community and provide opportunity for meaningful service.

One of the most significant expressions of this commitment is the 5Cs Preschool that attracts students from around the Mankato area. For 45+ years, 5Cs Preschool has been an outreach ministry of Crossview, providing a Christ-centered Kindergarten readiness program for children ages 24 months-5 years old. 5Cs is licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services.

Both the Children’s Ministries and Student Ministries offer an abundance of activities and programs focused on worship, community building, and service. In an area with multiple colleges and post-high school learning opportunities, students and young adults are encouraged to experience worship at Crossview, as well as participate in smaller community through their partnerships with CRU, Intervarsity, Navigators, Mankato Youth Place (MY Place), and Young Life.
