About the Position:
The primary responsibility for The Director of Music Ministries is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. The Director will recruit, develop, equip, and lead various musical groups and musical group leaders. The Director is expected to collaborate with the clergy and program staff in church-wide and community ministries throughout the year. As a committed follower of Jesus Christ and spiritual leader, the Director will lead people of all ages to glorify God and strengthen their faith through various opportunities, styles of music, and worship. The Director should use his/her spiritual gifts, education, and experiences to lead in creative ways which encourages the church to grow beyond its existing ministries.
What We Are Searching For / Qualifications:
The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Director of Music Ministry:
A bachelor’s degree in music is required. A master’s degree in Music, Music Education, Music Performance, or a similar study is highly preferred and a great bonus.
Several years of prior experience leading in a music ministry or as a Worship Pastor is required for this role.
- Someone with a pleasant demeanor is ideal for this role. A focus on building multi-generational relationships and excellent people skills are great for someone in this position.
- Someone who can develop leaders, recruit volunteers and participants, and grow the ministry effectively.
- The Direction of Music Ministry should have a strong work ethic.
- Someone with youthful energy, drive & charisma.
- Someone who has a strong, vibrant, growing faith, who is a Christ follower. Good leadership and discipleship skills are vital to this position.
- Someone who is spiritually mature.
- Someone who is a teacher / communicator
- Someone who is fun…making joyful noise! The Music Ministry is a joyful and vibrant ministry, and the Director should be a reflection of that.

Dothan, Alabama, with a population of about 70,000 people, is a city with a small town feel. It’s easy to see why people love it. In addition to being two hours from the beach, Dothan also offers affordable housing, low unemployment, and little crime.
