JOB POST -#1 PRESENTATION

Meet Georgetown Bible Church:

In 1978, a small group of believers began looking to start a church in Georgetown Township because the area of Ottawa County was growing. On March 1st, 1978, twenty-three individuals began meeting at a local home and soon moved their location to Bauer Elementary where 51 people attended the first Sunday service. In April of 1984, Georgetown called Mike Weber to pastor the church. In October of the same year, charter membership was established with 40 individuals.

In 2001, a new Worship and Missions Pastor was added to the staff. In 2005, a $2.5 million-dollar addition added an early childhood center, an office complex, and roughly 10,000 additional square feet to the current facilities. With the increased growth and ministries started, new staff continued to be added as needed. Through the years, the congregation grew to a weekly attendance of 440, with today serving nearly 450. In June of 2019, Pastor Garry Koon retired after 25 years of faithful service.

Georgetown Bible Church currently has a Sunday morning and evening service and is considering an additional morning service. Additionally GBC has a college-age ministry, an Awana program, a Wednesday night youth program, Life Groups, multiple marriage ministries, and several other age-related ministry programs that occur throughout the week. GBC supports 12 missionaries and 6 organizations that represent roughly 20% of the overall GBC budget. With a dedicated staff and leadership team, and a vibrant and welcoming congregation, the future is bright for Georgetown Bible Church, as they begin this season of searching for their next Lead Pastor.
