Meet Harvest Bible Chapel

Harvest Bible Chapel began as a church plant from Harvest Bible Fellowship. When Lead Pastor Matt Townsend started thinking about church planting, he and his wife  were willing to go where they were needed, but felt pulled to Philadelphia. And thus the heart of Harvest Bible Chapel began - to reach people in Philadelphia, a place where people were abandoning the gospel, and a place where revival was needed.

The church launched in September of 2011, and since then, has been a church making much about Jesus in everything they do and actively engaging in church planting regionally and internationally. Harvest Bible Chapel offers great biblical preaching and teaching, worship, life on life with other believers in community, and a mission to be in the community of the greater Philadelphia area no matter what. Their heart is and will continue to be a church of their community in Upper Merion/King of Prussia, as well as a church that will also be able to minister to their Judea and Samaria, the larger Philadelphia area.

It’s an excellent place for families to live, with a high quality of life. Large employers that bring business to the area include UGI, Universal Health Services (UHS), Vanguard Group, Merck Pharmaceuticals, and Lockheed Martin, to name a few.

The King of Prussia/Upper Merion area is growing quickly in diversity, both ethnically and religiously.  Historically a strong Catholic area, droves are now leaving the Catholic church. Parishes in nearby neighborhoods are bare, even closing down or tearing down once vibrant places of worship.  Also, due to the diversity of employment, God has brought the nations to our doorstep and richly blessed us with beauty in diversity.

Greater Philadelphia itself sits in the center of the Bo-Wash Corridor, the halfway point between Boston and Washington where 25% of our nations population lives.  Philadelphia is a veritable melting pot of cultures. Nearly every nation is represented in the Philadelphia area bringing the Great Commission to our doorstep.

Enjoy the urban outdoors in Philadelphia's lively and walkable Center City District by joining a walking tour of many of the almost 4,000 murals in this city, known as the Mural Capital of the World.  You also do not want to miss out on a famous Philly cheesesteak or explore the city's dynamic dining scene offering more than 1,000 restaurants and bars in Center City to whet any appetite.

Philadelphia is not only the birthplace of America, but also of American medicine. Home to the nation's first hospital, medical school, children's hospital, college of pharmacy, and medical library, Philadelphia is steeped in science history. It's no wonder the Brookings Institution has called Philadelphia one of the top “Knowledge Capitals” in the U.S. and Europe.
