Meet Journey Church:

In 2007, Pastor Will Browning, his wife, Tarah, and ten others moved from Louisville, Kentucky to Summerville, South Carolina to plant the Journey Church with a vision to see every man, woman, and child have multiple opportunities to see, hear, and respond to the gospel.  During the first few years of operation, the congregation met in homes and other local Baptist church facilities.

On April 4, 2010, Journey Church had its Grand Opening at its first location on Treeland Drive, which is centrally located off Interstate 26, just outside of Summerville.  As the church focused on planting more churches, partnering with schools, and serving the community, the church family continued to grow. In 2015, to accommodate growth and pursue expanding its mission and vision in the surrounding communities, Journey launched its second campus in Goose Creek.  In 2020, Journey consolidated both campuses into its first permanent, stand-alone location, located slightly further down Treeland Drive, and announced the intent to build a new campus in the Goose Creek community in the future.

About the Lead Pastor:

The Lead Pastor serves the Journey Church as the lead missionary and visionary, accountable for evangelizing, assimilating, developing, discipling, and deploying partners. The Lead Pastor motivates and compels Journey Church through his commitment to and delivery of Biblical content via sermons each Sunday morning, and he is responsible for organizing the Teaching Team. The Lead Pastor’s main objective and priority should be to shepherd the congregation of Journey Church, casting vision for and leading the organization. The Lead Pastor must possess the ability to make decisive, critical choices in a timely manner in order to further the vision of the organization.

What it's Like to Live in Summerville/Charleston, South Carolina:

Summerville, South Carolina is a suburb of Charleston, and this whole area is very attractive to people from all over the world. Charleston, specifically, has been rated the #1 city in the world by Travel and Leisure. Our church campus is located on the frontage road of Interstate 26 and is a 25-minute drive to downtown Charleston! There are three beaches within an hour’s drive as well.

Several large employers have recently moved to the area, such as Boeing, Volvo, and Mercedes-Benz. We are also centrally located to several key medical facilities such as the Medical University of SC, Trident Hospital, and Roper Hospital.

Our church is in the Summerville/Ladson region of the Lowcountry. This area is quickly growing as well. The Nexton community is a 5-minute drive from the campus, and this area is attracting restaurants, entertainment, and new homes daily. According to the US Census, Berkeley County's population has grown by 29% over the past ten years.

The little suburb of Summerville has much to offer due to its convenient location, reasonable cost of living, and the fact that it is not overly crowded despite the growth happening all around. There are dining and entertainment options, and the people that live here are, overall, friendly and welcoming. It is a good place to raise a family and build a lasting home.
