Meet La Jolla Presbyterian Church:

At La Jolla Presbyterian Church, we are seeking to live out our faith in our community and world.

If you were to ask people why they are a part of La Jolla Presbyterian Church, they would probably mention several aspects of our family life:

  • Inspiring and faithful worship

  • Encouraging music from our traditional choir at 8:45AM and 11AM or our contemporary band at 10AM

  • Sermons for people who like to ask questions and are skeptical of easy answers

  • Authentic friendships

  • Relevant Biblical teaching

  • Compassionate care for people in need

  • Care for our community and greater San Diego

  • Transformed lives

Our goal is to become the kind of church described in the Bible - one that walks with God and is infused with the joy of Jesus Christ.

About the Pastor/Director of Outreach and Engagement:

The Pastor/Director of Outreach and Engagement will help strategize and lead a process that allows for people to move from simply experiencing Christ’s love to expressing that love in their family, community, and world (i.e. by connecting attendees with mission outreach opportunities and overseeing the development of Hospitality Teams and Christian education opportunities).

The Pastor/Director of Outreach and Engagement Will:

  • Develop and implement a strategy/process that helps move first-time visitors (digital or in-person) from being casual observers to active participants in the mission of God and LJPC.

  • The small group (in-person and online) ministry is expanding in both equipped leaders and engaged participants.

  • LJPC is known as a church that cares for one another, the community, and is actively serving to meet community needs.

  • Individual members and families are being equipped and empowered to be missionaries in their neighborhoods.

  • The new Pastor/Director is being recognized as a valued leader at LJPC among the staff and in the congregation.

What it's Like to Live in La Jolla, California:

Known for its beautiful coastline, La Jolla is a place where people come to vacation and enjoy the ocean. It is also a great place to live. The US Open was just held at Torrey Pines, a couple of miles from the church. If you enjoy the outdoors, you will absolutely love this community. Walking, running, surfing, golfing, cycling, and swimming are all readily available to you here. The mountains and skiing are just a couple of hours away.

Though it is technically a part of San Diego, La Jolla really functions as its own little community. People soon discover that San Diego is really made up of several communities, which each have their own vibe and distinctiveness. La Jolla has a large group of retired people who live in three retirement communities that are each located within walking distance of the church. La Jolla also has three elementary schools, as well as a middle school and high school. There are also numerous private schools located in La Jolla, and UCSD is a top university that is located only a couple of miles from our church.

People who live in La Jolla tend to lead very busy lives. Academics and athletics are important to parents who raise their kids here. Our older population travels a lot. The people who live in La Jolla tend to have advanced degrees and have held leadership positions in their work and volunteer life.
