The Role: The Senior Pastor will lead the congregation and staff while intentionally pursuing Lake Tapps Christian Church’s mission, vision and values.
Meet Lake Tapps Christian Church:
Since 1983, Lake Tapps Christian Church has had an impact in Bonney Lake, Lake Tapps, and the surrounding communities. They have had a legacy of strong leadership, with only two pastors in their 36-year history.
Steve Wilhite joined the LTCC staff in 2001 as the student pastor, and then became the Senior Pastor in 2003. Late last year, Steve and Kari decided it was important to move to Oregon to care for his parents. They will be finishing up at Lake Tapps Christian Church early this summer.
Our visit to LTCC was encouraging and inspiring. We found a welcoming church full of life. There is a real sense of momentum and anticipation among the attendees. So much has been put in place recently (paying down debt, creating systems, hiring staff) that is foundational in nature—the next Senior Pastor will be able to build on this work that has been done, and with the people of Lake Tapps, continue to build a thriving and impactful local church.
Lake Tapps is a community of people inviting God to use their stories to grow and strengthen His kingdom. They are committed to becoming a church that unchurched people love to attend.
The mission of Lake Tapps is to honor God, follow Christ and serve people. There is a real sense of community in the congregation—people who are living out their faith with others. The percentage of those involved in community groups or discipleship groups has been steadily growing.

What it's like to live in Bonney Lake Community:
For almost 40 years, Lake Tapps Christian Church has served the residents of Bonney Lake and the surrounding communities. Bonney Lake has nearly doubled in size since 2002 to nearly 21,000 people within the city limits. Just beyond the city limits is an example of the type of growth our community is experiencing. Tehaleh is Washington's #1 best-selling community of new homes. With a current population of over 4,000 people, growing by 300 - 350 new homes a year, it is estimated to have almost 10,000 homes when development is complete, with almost 500 acres dedicated to business, 1800 acres of parks and open space, and 20 plus miles of trails. It is a growing, thriving community of young families.
The area abounds with recreation and activities for adults and children of all ages. Indoor activities are available nearby, including roller skating, trampoline parks and inflatable bounce houses. Classes, camps and lessons are offered for children and families at the local YMCA. Take in a movie at the 10-screen movie theatre or enjoy story time with the little ones at one of the three nearby libraries.
Bonney Lake has the feel of a small town with easy access to urban adventures. To the north, families enjoy activities along the Seattle waterfront and the world-famous Pike Place Market. Take in art and culture at Seattle Center—home of the 1962 World's Fair. To the west, Tacoma offers art and culture, waterfront dining along Commencement Bay with local, market-fresh seafood and abundant family activities at Point Defiance Park's beaches, trails, gardens, zoo and aquarium.
Western Washington is also home to three national parks. The rugged vast wilderness of the North Cascades National Park is great for mountaineers and backpackers. The Olympic's rainforests and hot springs draw crowds for hiking and wildlife. Mount Rainier National Park is a short drive from Bonney Lake and is known for its dense forests, waterfalls and wildflower displays. Each park provides beautiful views, access to ranger-led hiking and snowshoeing, camping, wildlife viewing and so much more.
