The Role: The Lead Pastor of LifePoint Church will inspire and lead the congregation and staff to pursue and live out the mission, purpose, and values of the church as they reach their local community and the greater Plano region.

Meet LifePoint Church:

LifePoint Church was founded as Grace Community Church with approximately 14 people on March 12, 1989. Since that day, we have been growing, one family at a time. With every new family joining the church there came new challenges, new needs crying to be met and by the grace of God, those challenges are being met through various ministries and groups in the church. 

LifePoint Church strives to be relational, adaptable, loyal and transparent. They are an accepting, approachable church that is seeker sensitive, with authentic, applicable and Biblical messages.


About the Lead Pastor:

LifePoint Church is seeking a Lead Pastor who is a spiritually mature and visionary leader and who has a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ. He will have demonstrated ability to effectively and practically communicate God’s Word through solid, Biblically based preaching and teaching. 

The ideal Lead Pastor will have proven experience in leading and vision casting, pastor/shepherding, and in supervising and mentoring senior staff in the fulfillment of the church's mission and vision at LifePoint.

The Lead Pastor will: 

Specific Responsibilities

  • The Lead Pastor and family have integrated into the church family and the local community. 

  • Has built trusting relationships with the Ministry Staff and has started to help them accomplish their stated goals and objectives.

  • Works collaboratively with the Senior Staff and Board of Directors in planning, vision casting, and setting direction for the LifePoint Church. 

  • Function as visionary, lead preaching/teaching pastor who shepherds the congregation.

  • Solidify leadership by casting mission, vision, and values from the platform. 

  • Build trusting relationships with everyone attending the LifePoint Church.  

Provide visionary leadership for realization of God’s vision for LifePoint Church

  • Chief visionary and vision caster.

  • Build, nurture, and supervise the senior staff team to effectively execute the annual plan and vision of the church through staff and volunteers.

Primary teacher/preacher of the Scriptures

  • Preach weekly compelling Biblical messages rooted in God’s Word with strong application to daily life, with an authenticity, transparency, and humility that appeals to believers and seekers alike.

  • Prepare sermons for 35 or more Sundays out of the year.

  • Plan and implement a weekly preaching/teaching schedule with the LifePoint worship leadership team that integrates the various seasons in life.

Shepherd the congregation through staff and church leaders

  • Maintain a lifestyle that is consistent in word and practice with the qualifications of a pastor according to 1 Timothy 3:1-7.

  • Participate in church-wide activities to engage with different ministries and Life Groups.

What you bring: 

Education & Experience

  • A bachelor's degree (e.g., a bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies) from an accredited Christian university is required; a Master of Divinity or comparable graduate degree from an accredited university is preferable.

  • The ideal candidate will have seven or more years of pastoral experience in a local church as a Lead, Associate, or Campus Pastor.

  • Deepening and growing intimacy in his relationship to Jesus Christ. 

  • Knows his gifts, talents, strengths, and limitations, and has an accurate understanding of his God-given capabilities.

  • Is a gifted communicator and teacher of God’s Word.

  • Has a heart for people and missions.

  • Is a leader that is humble and accessible to others.

  • Leads strong with character and integrity.

  • Is loyal, adaptable, relational, transparent.

  • Is a visionary leader who is able to inspire and motivate others to join the mission.

  • Is a team builder and developer, having the skills to train leaders for the ministry based on the model of Ephesians 4:12.

  • Works best in collaboration with staff members and church leaders. 

  • Has a good sense of humor and doesn’t take himself too seriously.
