About the Care and Recovery Pastor:

The Care and Recovery Pastor will be responsible for leading and developing the Care and Recovery ministries offered by Mariners Church. They will also be responsible for attracting new members and training volunteers. They should be able to demonstrate leadership and God-led attributes that properly reflect the church.

The Care and Recovery Pastor Responsibilities Include: 

  • Communicate the vision, values, and mission of the church throughout the various Recovery Ministry programs.

  • Establish the vision and values of Care & Recovery ministries.

  • Communicate the vision and values of Care & Recovery ministries across the organization and to the congregation.

  • Lead all Care & Recovery ministry volunteer core teams.

  • Lead the Directory of Care & Recovery in the execution of all Care & Recovery group launches; training and envisioning volunteer teams, other congregations, group life, and communications teams.

  • Oversee and collaborate with the Director of Care & Recovery in recruiting and equipping volunteer coaches and group leaders, helping them manage their programs, projects, and people.

  • Collaborate with members of the Community Life team to ensure effective and efficient management throughout all Mariners Care & Recovery Ministries. Including managing the annual calendar of C&R volunteer training, events, and groups.

What You Bring: 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of professional experience (ministry or clinical) required.

  • Master's degree in human services (i.e. MSW, Public Health, Counseling) preferred.

  • Prior involvement in a local church either as a volunteer or in vocational ministry is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Able to demonstrate a commitment to a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. 

  • Proven ability to attract, develop and engage volunteer leaders.

  • Proven ability to build teams supporting a variety of care needs (i.e. Grief, Divorce, Recovery, Mental Health, etc.)

  • Strong leadership skills to build influence across various departments and teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, produce and evaluate events and projects.

  • Knowledgeable Pastoral Care Law and Ethics in the state of CA.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Excellent discernment in crisis. 

  • Strong relational acumen and time management skills.
