Meet Mountview Baptist Church:
Mountview Baptist Church was planted in 1957 from the First Baptist Church of Columbus formerly located on Broad Street in downtown Columbus. The founding members first met in the Lane Avenue Movie Theatre, then in the Hastings Middle School before finally buying the three acres of land that the church now sits upon at the corner of Mountview and Fishinger Roads, which is where the church derives its name. Today, with an average weekend attendance of 350, the church is uniquely distinguished for its excellent preschool programming known to be one of the best in the region, local school partnerships and summer outreach programming.
Originally affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA denomination, in September of 2012, Mountview Baptist Church became the Mountview Christian Church. For the past five years, the church has been embodying a nondenominational, local, Christian church ministering to the people of Upper Arlington and the surrounding communities with an emphasis on keeping Jesus first in all things. So rather than being known for being Baptist, Mountview desires to become known for having Christian at the center of its name—because Christ is the center of our lives.
