The Role: The next Mountview Pastor of Staff and Students will be responsible for leading, shepherding and managing full-time programming staff as they lead their teams, ensuring that everyone is moving together toward our shared vision.

Meet Mountview Baptist Church:

Mountview Christian Church is a non-denominational church serving Upper Arlington and surrounding communities. We are an intergenerational church of approximately 350 primarily made up of young families in a close-knit community, just minutes away from a burgeoning downtown that features cultural arts, professional and collegiate sports and eclectic eateries along with all that comes with being the state capital.

About the Pastor of Staff and Students: 

The next Mountview Pastor of Staff and Students will be one who leads, shepherds and manages our full-time programming staff and our volunteer staff as they lead their teams, ensuring that everyone is moving together toward our shared vision. The ideal candidate for the position of Pastor of Staff is also someone who can provide direct interim leadership to our growing student ministry. 

The ideal candidate for the position of Pastor of Staff and Students will also bear a strong leadership aptitude as well as proven leadership experience and maintain an authentically passionate heart for children, students and their families. This individual will understand the importance of collaboration and the value of coaching staff, as well as initially mentoring future adult and student leaders within the context of current trends in student ministry, in order to develop this community of faith to become fully devoted followers of Christ.

 

The Pastor of Staff and Students will:

Discipleship Development

  • Responsible for a cohesive Church engagement and individual spiritual growth pathway across all ages (birth to death).

  • Leadership and implementation of communication strategy to promote pathway.

  • Co-lead the evaluation, design, implementation and execution of all current and future initiatives (including planning, budget, etc.).

Staff Leadership

  • Coaching and development.

  • Performance management.

  • Equipping staff with shared strategies to accomplish the mission (in their domain).

Operations 

  • Oversee finances, facilities, etc.

Pastor to Students and Families (Interim) 

  • Oversee Student Ministry.

  • Develop student leader teams.

  • Connect with parents.

Education and Experience

A bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Five or more years of proven leadership in Church ministry leadership is required for this position with a preference of three to five years in student ministry leadership. The ideal candidate will have the potential to thrive in their role, within the context of the vision and mission of Mountview Christian Church. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of staff oversight and working in a setting committed to reaching and discipling students and families with a high degree of innovation, recruitment, and retention of new students.

  • Strong strategic leadership skills.

  • Excellent people skills; a people-oriented leader.

  • Strong and relevant education in both student and family ministries.

  • Experience in ministry team formation and equipping.

  • Effective coaching/mentoring skills.

  • Experience in developing, shepherding and nurturing volunteer ministers.

  • Excellent communication skills in one-on-one, small and large group settings, and someone who will be at ease on the platform speaking to the congregation.

  • Experience in ongoing leadership, management and administration of a staff including policy setting and accountability.

  • Appropriate technology, administration and management skills to organize, lead and grow the ministry. Ideally experienced using Church management software systems to accomplish this.

  • The education and experience in this field that readily displays the ability to fulfill the aforementioned responsibilities.

  • A deep grasp and knowledge of the Bible and Christian theology.

  • A passion for keeping our students connected to Christ, each other, their families and to this community.

  • A desire to develop, enhance and expand components of the current student ministry program.

  • A proven capability to recruit and develop leaders.

  • An unrelenting passion for leading others to faith.

  • The ability to develop appropriate goals for self and others, and the strategy to execute those goals with excellence and to hold others accountable to those goals.

  • An ability to teach and communicate creatively.

  • A proven commitment to equipping staff, members, and key players, and releasing them to do their ministry within appropriate boundaries.
