Meet Newbreak Church

Newbreak Church, an Assemblies of God church in San Diego, is a thriving multi-site church featuring in-person teaching at each of its campuses. Founded in 1986 with a group of 13 people, the church has now grown to five campuses throughout San Diego, averaging around 2,000 people in total attendance on a weekend.   

The Tierrasanta Campus is the original and largest of the five campuses at Newbreak with one service on Saturday night and two services on Sunday morning. As a multi-site church, each campus has its own Campus Pastor responsible both for leading the campus and teaching on the weekend while collaborating with the other campuses. Newbreak is excited to see God continue to move in their midst as they begin a new season of leadership with a new Campus Pastor at their Tierrasanta location.

About the Campus Pastor:

The Campus Pastor’s primary responsibility is to be the spiritual leader and principal teacher at one of the Newbreak campuses, implementing Newbreak’s Vision Framework (including the overarching mission, vision and values) in both the campus staff and the church body. The Campus Pastor will collaborate with and serve as part of the pastoral team. Candidates must be from or experienced with Southern California culture.

The Campus Pastor will: 

The effective Campus Pastor models effective leadership and character in overseeing and executing a variety of tasks. Those fall in three main areas: the weekend worship experience, discipleship and development of the staff and body through ministry at the campus throughout the week, and serving the local and global communities through missions and outreach.

Weekend Worship Experience:

  • Serve as the Campus Pastor and primary weekend speaker at the Tierrasanta campus.

  • Provide a consistent presence and spiritual leadership to those attending weekend services.

  • Implement Newbreak’s Vision Framework at the campus level and equip the body for the work of the ministry.

  • Collaborate with the teaching team to develop engaging and spiritually significant weekend messages.

  • Communicate with excellence and authenticity.

  • Lead, inspire, and mobilize people into ministry and wholeness in Christ.

  • Integrate and evaluate standards of excellence in all campus ministries.

  • Model and lead a posture of humility and dependence on the Lord to be successful in the growth of the campus.

Discipleship of Staff and Body

  • Lead weekly campus staff meetings to keep cohesiveness among the various campus ministries and to communicate and implement Newbreak’s Vision Framework.

  • Meet one-on-one regularly with their staff team to coach, develop, hold accountable, and invest in each team member, both in their leadership and their discipleship.

  • Work with champion ministry leads to recruit, train, and mobilize ministry teams on campus.

  • Work with other Campus Pastors to continue to grow all ministries at all venues within Newbreak.

  • Manage the lateral communication process between the functional areas of ministry at own campus and in collaboration with other campuses and church leaders.

  • Meet on a regular basis with the Executive Pastor or coach to review campus needs and leadership, and to vision cast for future growth and ministries.

  • Must be able to manage the campus budget, be a wise steward of finances, and cultivate generosity in their attenders.

Serve Local and Global Communities

  • Embed in the local community of the campus: study it, learn it, assess its needs, and grow towards becoming a vital and active member of the local community.

  • Champion and participate in outreach and Kingdom Builders (missions) events and trips.

  • Promote and support Kingdom Builders and develop generosity in church body and staff.

  • Interact with the community to serve unique community needs while developing and growing the church.

What you bring: 

Education & Experience

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with significant biblical studies, five or more years of related experience or training, or an equivalent of combined education and experience.

  • Has a heart for the congregation and community, is passionate about church planting and missions and enjoys being a pastor
