The role:  The Associate Pastor for Grand Adults serves the active senior adult population of Peachtree Presbyterian.  This includes developing communities through the second-step of our strategy as an opportunity to “Belong.” Middle-ring relationships cultivate friendships and grow in social trust with others. The purpose of this portion of the church’s mission is to gather people together into mid-sized (defined as 30 to 80 people) communities to “gather, learn, serve, care, and always fill the empty chair.”

Meet Peachtree Presbyterian Church:

Peachtree Presbyterian Church is one of the largest and most respected Presbyterian (USA) churches in the United States. Founded as a Sunday school for children in 1910, it has become a thriving multifaceted full-service church, dedicated to serving the community of which it is a part.  It is a regional church, drawing from areas far beyond its neighborhood and reaching across Metro Atlanta.

Peachtree is a multi-generational community experiencing growth through its ministry to young families. Baptizing 140-150 babies a year, home to the South’s largest preschool, and valuing children and student ministries, Peachtree’s average age is 37. Sixty-six full-time staff and sixty-five part-time staff (not including preschool and gym staff) make up the team, which, alongside leaders in the congregation, guide Peachtree’s ministry. Together, they dream “God-sized dreams” and live that “ministry flows out of fellowship.”


About the Associate Pastor of Grand Adults:  

The Associate Pastor for Grand Adults serves the active senior adult population of Peachtree Presbyterian.  This includes developing communities through the second-step of our strategy as an opportunity to “Belong.” Middle-ring relationships cultivate friendships and grow in social trust with others. The purpose of this portion of the church’s mission is to gather people together into mid-sized (defined as 30 to 80 people) communities to “gather, learn, serve, care, and always fill the empty chair.”

The Associate Pastor of Grand Adults will: 

  • Work with the leadership of the Grand Adult Sunday School classes to insure their viability and that effective programming is met.

  • Interface with and help to lead the Grand Adult committee and advise them as they plan activities for the Grand Adults of the church.

  • Create and carry out a plan to visit the homebound members of the church, whether in retirement facilities, private homes, or hospitals.

  • Provide personal ministry to grand adults and their families in times of sickness, hospitalization, and death.

  • Oversee and confirm regular distribution of the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper to homebound members.

  • Assist the pastoral staff with other general pastoral duties.

  • Assist in worship on Sunday morning as requested.

  • Teach Adult Sunday School classes per availability, when needed and requested.


What you bring:

Education & Experience

The idea candidate will have a master’s degree in divinity/theology and two to five years of experience working in Adult Ministries, Senior Adult Ministry, or a similar field of work.
