About the Senior Pastor:
The full-time Senior Pastor serves the church by providing spiritual leadership and vision to the congregation. The Senior Pastor works with staff and church leaders to align strategies and ministries to accomplish the church’s vision. The Senior Pastor is responsible to the church to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach the biblical revelation, effectively communicate the church’s vision, and fervently pray for the church and its mission.
The Senior Pastor will:
Serve as the spiritual leader of the congregation.
Preach a solid biblically-based message in a captivating way, including a sound, unwavering commitment to the truth of God’s Word.
Coordinate worship services with the Worship Pastor.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the church, supervise the Worship Pastor and Executive Pastor, and delegate responsibility to the Executive Pastor for the direction and supervision of staff members, programs, budgets, operations, and facilities.
Inspire, encourage, and mentor the staff in the areas of personal spiritual growth and development of comprehensive and effective ministries of worship, discipleship, and service.
Encourage and nurture the spiritual development and beliefs of the congregation through regular teaching of the Bible.

The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Senior Pastor:
The ideal candidate for Senior Pastor will have a bachelor’s degree. It is also desired for the candidate to have an advanced degree from an accredited Christian university or seminary, ideally a Master of Divinity degree. The ideal Senior Pastor will be licensed or ordained, and if not, will be willing and able to be ordained by Plymouth Park Baptist Church.
The ideal candidate will certainly have three years or more of experience, with preferably five years or more of ministry leadership experience. The ideal Senior Pastor’s prior experience as a ministry leader will demonstrate and ensure appropriate theological, doctrinal, and administrative skill to fulfill this role.
Have a clear sense of calling to the ministry, and a strong, demonstrated personal faith.
Have a love for and commitment to his own family.
An obvious sense of humor without demeaning others is an essential quality.
Have a good financial sense regarding personal/family finances, as well as church finances.
Have proven leadership skills.
Have the ability to relate to both younger generations and older generations.
Possess a courage of his convictions without being dogmatic.
Hold an impeccable moral reputation.
Demonstrate excellent preaching/teaching skills.
Have proven experience as a skilled administrator.
Have the ability to motivate others to service.
Show an exceptional ability to explain biblical concepts appropriate to all ages, and make practical application of those concepts.
What it's like to live in Irving, Texas:
The community has shifted recently at Plymouth Park. Once predominantly an older congregation, Plymouth Park has become more multicultural and young families have begun attending.
Irving, Texas is located in northwest of Dallas, Texas, with a population of 232,000. Irving is home to many attractions. Toyota Convention Center is located here, which brings many entertainment artists. Many people travel to Irving on business because it is near the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport and has many hotels. There are shopping districts, parks, museums, and outdoor trails to be found. Irving is a great getaway location from the large Dallas Metroplex. The demographics in Irving have changed in recent years. Over 40% of the population comes from Hispanic or Latino origins; 26% Anglo, 17% Asian and 13% African American. Irving hosts many Fortune 500 companies such as Exxon, Kimberly-Clark, and Fluor Corporation.
Irving is full of fun family entertainment, from kid-friendly restaurants, interactive museums, and outdoor activities. Spend an afternoon splashing around at West Irving Aquatic Center before catching a special, family-friendly performance at the Irving Arts Center. Irving has a lively nightlife scene with tons of live music options. There are great restaurants nearby. Irving and Dallas/Fort Worth have an international reputation for their museums and arts. A favorite is the Mustangs of Las Colinas. The Dallas Arts District, the largest arts district in the nation, spanning 68 acres and 19 blocks, is a quick drive away. For those who love the outdoors, many people enjoy time on beautiful Lake Carolyn. Campión Trails, a master-planned, 22-mile greenbelt, is another outdoor attraction people love. For golf enthusiasts, there are four 18-hole golf courses within city limits. Golfing is a popular activity in Irving and Las Colinas. Irving is home to the Tournament Players Course (TPC) at Four Seasons Resort and Club Las Colinas, one of golf’s premier destinations.
North Irving houses some of the more popular neighborhoods. Las Colinas is also a popular neighborhood in the area. It was one of the first master planned developments in the United States. Nearby Valley Ranch is another great neighborhood.
There are six public high schools in Irving and one charter school. Private schools include Cistercian Preparatory School (fifth to twelfth grade), Highlands School (pre-k to twelfth grade), and two Catholic (pre-k to eighth grade) schools. Irving is home to the University of Dallas and North Lake College. DeVry University has a campus in Irving as well.
