About the Organization:

Prairie Lakes Church is a 6-campus multisite church spread throughout the state of Iowa. Our mission is to cover our state with churches where, no matter who you are, where you’ve been, what you’ve done or what’s been done to you, God loves you, and you can look for God here.

We reach that goal by aiming to launch one campus a year, and partnering with dozens of other churches throughout Iowa to spread the gospel to people who don't know Jesus in our state.

We are one church on many corners across Iowa. We offer a casual setting with messages you can understand and services that are heartfelt, creative and practical. We want to do anything and everything we can to help people know Jesus and step over the faithline, to give their lives to Christ.

About the Location:

Between 1950 and 1980, the City of Cedar Falls had one of the fastest growing municipal populations in the State of Iowa. This was spurred primarily by economic growth in the Metropolitan Area: namely John Deere and Company, Rath Packing, and Chamberlain Manufacturing all in Waterloo; a tremendous growth in UNI enrollment; and emphasis by civic leaders on quality of life factors in the community. Also, during this time, and up to 1990, open enrollment of students and the Price Lab School at UNI were very important issues facing Cedar Falls.

In 1967, the State College of Iowa became known as the University of Northern Iowa. Other prominent landmarks and community facilities were being constructed during this time including the Broom Factory, Sartori Hospital, and the Cedar Falls Bible Conference.

Today, the City of Cedar Falls takes pride in its schools, its relationship with UNI, strong leadership, and development being experienced by the community. The City has a strong desire to: maintain its identity through leadership; foster growth and development; and to improve services and its quality of life amenities whenever possible.

With a population of about 40,000 people, Cedar Falls is comprised of people who work in farming industries or for John Deere or are in educational fields such as teaching at the University of Northern Iowa, or business fields in healthcare at one of the three hospitals in the area.

This small town has a homey feel and attracts growth through business industries or through students that move there for educational opportunities and decide to stay. 92 percent of UNI graduates remain in the Cedar Falls area.

Cedar Falls Public Schools are an excellent option for families with younger students, with a wide range of academic opportunities, sports, and extracurricular activities. These schools are ranked 4th in the state of Iowa. There are also several private school – either Lutheran or Catholic – options as well.

Economically, Cedar Falls enjoys a very low unemployment rate and solid, steady employment opportunities in business, healthcare, farming industry, education, and banking. The cost of housing is low, which makes Cedar Falls a great place to move for professionals and families alike.

On the weekends, residents of Cedar Falls love the Lost Island water park, numerous outdoor trails for hiking, biking, and camping and the range of entertaining acts that come to the UNI Dome for concerts, shows, and special events.

With a rich history and a focus on family and business, Cedar Falls has a lot to offer Iowans and anyone interested in moving to the Midwest. A low cost of living, quality education, safe atmosphere, and hometown and state sports make this a great place to raise kids who may enjoy it so much they stay for years after.
