The Role: The Outreach and Justice Minister will be a key player in this ministry, helping to build, nurture, and grow the ministry through increased focus, resources, and organization.
Meet Reality SF:
The dream of Reality San Francisco began in 2007 when Dave Lomas and his wife Ashley moved from Bakersfield to Carpinteria to begin the process of planting in the Reality Family of Churches. Two years later, they moved to San Francisco with a core team of 13 people.
Our initial prayer meetings in Hayes Valley were full of dependence upon God and anticipation of what He might want to do. Public gatherings began at the Swedish American Hall in the Castro on January 10, 2010. Due to rapid (and unexpected) growth, we eventually hosted four services there before moving to Everett Middle School in 2014. Currently, over 90 Community Groups meet during the week throughout the Bay Area. God has been so kind to our church community, and we love being a part of what He’s doing here in San Francisco.
San Francisco is one of the least churched cities in the nation and by God's grace, RSF has grown from a few dozen people to over 1,800. Although communicating the gospel to a diverse, progressive, and creative city like San Francisco has been one of the most challenging, yet inspiring endeavors, RSF continues their mission as a community of people who have been renewed by the gospel of Jesus with the purpose of making Him known. It is their desire to communicate the unchanging truth of the person and work of Jesus Christ in a way that everyone in the city and culture can comprehend.
We are a community following Jesus, seeking renewal in our city.
We are a community of people who have been transformed by the gospel of Jesus and have devoted our lives to following Him. It is our aim to communicate the unchanging truth of the person and work of Jesus in a way that everyone in our city can understand.
Reality SF is part of a family of churches held closely together through relationship, a shared philosophy of ministry, and a deep commitment to the gospel of Jesus.
About the Outreach and Justice Minister:
We are a community following Jesus, bringing renewal to our city. This is a vision of what we want to become, and it’s a process we will continue. It’s broken down into two areas:
A community following Jesus.
Bringing renewal to our city.
In 2020, we are bringing an increased focus, resources (staffing, focus, and funds) and organization to both of these areas. This is what our church is about: following Jesus and bringing renewal.
One of our strategies of bringing renewal to our city and to the world is through the leadership of our Justice and Outreach Ministry. This is building on the ministry that has been done and to bring new, big, and bold action to what can be done.
We are presenting a ministry that’s larger and more comprehensive than anything Reality SF has ever done. God has bigger things for us.
The Outreach and Justice Minister will be a key player in this ministry, helping to build, nurture, and grow the ministry through increased focus, resources, and organization.
The Outreach and Justice Minister will:
The effective Outreach and Justice Minister will carry out the following goals associated with the pillars of the Justice and Outreach Ministry. The Outreach and Justice Minister will identify, recruit, train, and develop teams of volunteer leaders to:
Local and Global Partnership: Continue the support and care to the potential, new, and current partnerships and organizations that are bringing renewal to our city, especially to at-risk youth. We will continue to resource them with personal care, funding, people, and communication.
Equipping and Sending Agents of Renewal: Implement the Justice and Outreach side of the RSF dream of being a training and sending church by identifying, training, equipping, and sending individuals from our church to bring renewal into our city and world. This includes short and long term individual and group experiences around the world.
Proactive Renewal to At-Risk Youth: Research and create new partnerships and avenues of Justice and Outreach locally and globally by working with at-risk youth.
Proactive Kingdom Relationships: Proactively partner with other Bay Area churches, missions leaders, local government, and civic leaders to gain perspective, best practices, and opportunities for renewal.
Activating Reality SF: Develop and oversee renewal initiatives like the “Grant Renewal Program,” monthly serve days, biannual all church serve days, etc.
Gospel Renewal: Oversee the implementation of our Alpha Outreach Ministry.
Financial Plan for Ministry: Develop and submit a strategic financial plan and partner support guidelines on an annual basis to the Executive Director and Administration and Finance Pastor.

What it's like to live in San Francisco, California:
Perched atop hills and filled-in marshland at the entrance to one of the Pacific’s largest natural harbors, San Francisco has had an outsized influence on the history of California and the United States. Originally a Spanish (later Mexican) mission and pueblo, it was conquered by the United States in 1846 and by an invading army of prospectors following the 1848 discovery of gold in its hinterland. The Gold Rush made San Francisco a cosmopolitan metropolis with a frontier edge. Over the years, the metroplex has proven itself to be a center of wealth, military power, progressive culture, and high technology.
San Francisco is a popular international tourist destination, and the industry itself has become the backbone of the San Francisco economy. The city is renowned for a number of its unique characteristics like its chilly summer fog, steep rolling hills, and eclectic mix of Victorian and modern architecture. Its notable landmarks including the Golden Gate Bridge, cable cars, and Chinatown are just a few of its recognizable features. The city is also a principal banking and finance center, and the home to more than 30 international financial institutions, helping to make San Francisco rank 18th in the world's top producing cities and 15th place in the top 20 global financial centers. The city is home to the University of California, San Francisco, which is entirely dedicated to graduate education in health and biomedical sciences as well as the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, San Francisco State University, the City College of San Francisco, and the University of San Francisco.
