Weekly Attendance: 2,000-2,500
Location: Costa Mesa, California
The Role: Lead Pastor
Meet Rockharbor Church:
Rockharbor was founded with the vision of being an authentic, genuine, spirit-filled community of Christ followers.
Rockharbor was launched in 1997 by a small team of ambitious church-planters. In the early years, the church gathered in a community center in Costa Mesa, CA. In 2004, we opened the doors to our first permanent meeting space, a warehouse in East Costa Mesa. This would become the launching pad for many new church communities that shared the same vision. In 2009, we began commissioning leaders to plant new Rockharbor campuses throughout Southern California.
Since the very beginning, we have been a church marked by volunteerism, hospitality, generosity, mission, and creativity. We desire to be an expression of God’s radical love to all people, rooted in prayer, Bible reading, and the spiritual disciplines, seeking the reconciliation and restoration of all people and creation in alignment with God’s kingdom, and joyful carriers of God’s presence to the ends of the earth.
We continue to be led and empowered by the Holy Spirit as we seek to reach every community.
About the Lead Pastor:
Rockharbor believes three stories need to come together: The story of the Lead Pastor, of the church, and of the community. The Lead Pastor of Rockharbor will be key in creating and executing the vision of the church. He will have strategies and vision for reaching the community of Costa Mesa and growing the church in both number and spiritual maturity. He will bring clear direction and new life which will breathe excitement and expectation into the staff culture. Both mission work and volunteering are central to Rockharbor so the Lead Pastor must have a heart for this as well. Rockharbor is deeply invested in the community, so the Lead Pastor will encourage involvement and develop relationships with other churches and pastors.
The Lead Pastor Will Achieve the Following Goals:
As a Leader
Mentor and assist other pastors, staff, and church leaders responsible for ministries such as youth, kids, mission work, fellowship, etc.
Supervise, manage, and develop the church staff.
Encourage all organizations and ministries of the church to carry out the mission work of Christ as supported by the church.
Build relational equity in the community.
Create and communicate clear vision and direction which can drive and create cohesion between all teachings and ministries within the church.
As a Teacher
Preparing teachings in a team setting for purposes of accountability and alignment with Rockharbor’s theology.
Diligent preparation of teachings, creating space to hear God's voice for our church.
Teaching that takes a developmental approach, with the goal of life change, and every message fitting into the larger vision and direction of Rockharbor.
Teaching will be done with vision and discernment, which compel the church forward in action, not simply provide knowledge.
Communication of teachings must be clear, dynamic, and accessible. Teachings will contain a spiritual depth that allows entrance into it from a diverse population of people with different backgrounds and levels of spiritual maturity.
