About the Associate Family Pastor:

The primary role of this position is to establish and oversee strategies and direction for Family Ministries.  The Associate Family Pastor facilitates the work of team members from the children’s and student’s ministries to assure that activities and training are offered for parents and family units. This individual will be responsible for the alignment of this ministry with the overall mission, vision, values, and strategies of the church. 

Initially, this individual will be directly responsible in the Junior and Senior High ministry as a spiritual and biblical leader who trains, empowers and releases volunteer leaders for ministry.  The goal is to move away from direct involvement to an oversight role when a lay leader or staff member is placed in the role of the Student Director. 

In addition, the Associate Family Pastor position will assist the Lead Pastor in shepherding the church. This includes pastoral care, visitation, weddings, funerals, administration of sacraments, and preaching ten to twelve times per year.


The Associate Family Pastor Will: 

  • Lead Family Ministry Team:

    • Lead staff team to develop and operate Christ-centered ministries for students and children in alignment with the overall vision and strategies of the Church.  

    • Create safe atmospheres and opportunities for children, students, and families to feel loved and accepted. 

    • Communicate and cast the Family Ministry vision to students, parents, congregation and community so that all groups have an exciting buy-in to the vision. 

    • Be a shepherd to the families in the Church.

    • Reach out to the community to bring non-Christian students and parents into a relationship with the church and hopefully with Christ. 

    • Establish objectives, goals, and action plans for the Student Ministry, Children’s Ministry, as well as Family /Parent Resourcing. 

    • Recruit, develop, and utilize the gifts of volunteer teams. 

  • Lead Student Ministry:

    • Create an engaging environment for Junior and High School students that allow them to be transformed by Jesus.

    • Create relationship-building opportunities with students, leaders, and families in the church. 

    • Teach the Bible with relevance and clarity in both Junior and Senior High programs.  

    • Identify and develop missional opportunities to engage students in missional living.

    • Recruit, train, equip, and care for Student Ministry leaders.

    • Offer loving care to students and parents that may struggle with difficult issues.

  • Oversee Children’s Ministry:

    • Resource Children’s Director to facilitate an engaging and biblically-based Children’s Ministry for Birth-5th grade which 

    • Collaborate with and develop the Children's team to ensure the Children’s ministry is an exciting place to learn the Bible. 

    • Ensure the Children’s areas are safe, clean, friendly, and nurturing.

  • Parent / Family Discipleship:

    • Provide practical discipleship opportunities for families/parents (ie: financial training, parenting resources, marriage equipping, etc.)

    • Provide opportunities for families to worship, have fun, and grow spiritually together.

  • Other Duties:

    • Continue personal development through available training opportunities.

    • Regular communication to Session and congregation.

    • Assist Lead Pastor with care responsibilities such as weddings, funerals, hospital visits, etc. 

    • Other duties as assigned.


What you Bring: 

Education & Experience

  • Adherence to the evangelical and reformed faith.

  • An M.Div. or related field is preferred; ordained or ordainable in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

  • An understanding of Holistic Family Ministry.

  • Three years ministry experience.

The extracurricular activities, arts, and sports programs in Bozeman are incredibly diverse, offering students so many opportunities to develop their unique interests.
