The Role: Worship Pastor
Meet Swift Creek Baptist Church:
The Lord began Swift Creek Baptist Church as Swift Creek Mission. The Mission was planted by New Bridge Baptist Church on March 25, 1979. The first service was held in the Tomahawk Ruritan Building on Bailey Bridge Road with 32 in attendance. Swift Creek’s history of growth began because of the prayerfulness and faith of His people.
The Mission officially became Swift Creek Baptist Church in January 1982. The Lord brought gifted leaders, gifted Pastors, and God-loving people to serve. The church grew and focused on witnessing and teaching the young and old alike. Soon, more office and Sunday School space was needed, so modular buildings were placed on the property and adjoining church property was purchased.
Within a few years, the space for worship and activities became crowded, so a new building program was entered into that culminated in a new Worship Center which was completed in September 1994. By 2003 the church again outgrew the space the Lord had provided. After seeking God’s will, the church stepped out in faith on November 23, 2003 to break ground for a large educational building. Through the faithful giving of God’s people, the debt on this last building program was paid off in 2021.
Swift Creek has planted two local churches; Parkway Baptist Church and Grace Harvest Baptist Church. We have supported other church plants over the last several years with financial support as well as sending ministry teams. Swift Creek is also actively involved with the Southern Baptist Convention of Virginia.
Our current Senior Pastor, Dr. Monty Guice began his ministry at Swift Creek in June of 2013. Under his leadership the church has grown and matured to become a warm and welcoming congregation. Even through the difficult days of Covid, the church has emerged as strong as ever.
Pastor Monty has also led Swift Creek to actively engage in more in-depth missions work. We are currently partnering with a national church in Lima, Peru to plant a new church in an unreached area outside the capital called Jicamarca.
We are ready to reach our community and the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We would love for you to join us as we strive to accomplish our Mission: To Glorify God as we Gather – Grow – Give and Go!

What it's Like to Live in Midlothian, VA:
Founded as a community of coal miners in the 1700s, coal was the basis of the Midlothian area economy until the late 1800s, when mining ended. Later attempts to reopen the mines were unsuccessful, but thanks to rail access, Midlothian Village became a commuter town. For years it was a friendly little southern community in the quiet Virginia countryside. While Midlothian has become a large suburban community, much of that charm remains intact today on the back roads of the village.
Situated in Chesterfield County, Midlothian, Virginia, is an unincorporated village just 14 miles west of Richmond that's known for its proud coal mining and railroad history, old churches, and unique shops. Today, the Midlothian neighborhood is a burgeoning commercial and residential community that combines historical ambiance with modern amenities, and what makes it a desirable choice for many. Midlothian is a close-knit community that suits everyone from young professionals to families to retirees. Not only is there plenty to do, but Richmond is close too, meaning you'll get just the right combination of suburban space and urban entertainment. A location in Central Virginia's most happening region is certainly noteworthy, and Virginia Beach can make for a great day trip.
Chesterfield County is located just south of Richmond in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The county's borders are primarily defined by the James River to the north and the Appomattox River to the south. As of the 2020 census, the population was 364,548 making it the fourth-most populous county in Virginia (behind Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun, respectively). Chesterfield County is part of the Greater Richmond Region, and the county refers to much of the northern portion of the county as “North Chesterfield.” Some of the employers of the area include: Amazon, HCA Virginia Health System, UPS, DuPont and Capital One.
