Unity Christian School BuildingMeet Unity Christian School:

In 1998, the pastors of West Rome Baptist Church, North Rome Church of God, Hollywood Baptist Church, and Fellowship Baptist Church, united in a shared vision to establish a Christian school in Rome, GA. The founding pastors prayerfully laid a foundation for a partnership with Christian parents in addressing the academic and spiritual needs of their children.  Soon after, the pastors of Thankful Baptist Church and the First Assembly of God joined the founding pastors, further establishing a provisional board of trustees.

Unity Christian School opened in 1998 with 47 students studying in K4 to 5th grade. With the purchase of the former Battey Machinery building, located on the corner of Highway 53 and the Rome Bypass, Unity was able to offer a high school program. Unity began to grow quickly in this new location as a beacon for Christian education in the Rome community. The school became known for its commitment to Biblical worldview integration throughout its curriculum and was lauded by accreditors as performing among the nation’s top ten percent in this area.

Today, Unity Christian School is a private, coeducational, college preparatory school that serves more than 360 students in grades Pre-K3 to 12. Unity students come from seven surrounding counties and represent more than 85 area church congregations. As enrollment continues to grow, the school is embarking upon three Strategic Objectives to promote a vibrant school community and establish an Advancement Department that will help provide a facility capable of comprehensive learning experiences for all age groups.

Unity Christian School is also blessed by financial partnerships with local churches and corporate sponsors. With the support of parents, generous private donors, and these financial partners, the school has successfully provided additional scholarships for students, advancements in technology, and growth opportunities for athletics and the fine arts.

The mission of Unity Christian School is to partner with Christian parents in preparing their children to impact the world for Christ by pursuing their God-given potential in academics, leadership and service.

Our purpose is to guide students to discover their identity in Christ through biblical discipleship and academic excellence.

Unity Christian School GraduatesFour Pillars
Commitment to excellence in academics is one of the four pillars of a Unity Christian School education. From the youngest PreK3 students to graduating seniors, we strive to enable students of every academic skill level to reach their God-given potential for impacting the world for Christ. Whether it be a need for extra assistance, encouragement, or challenge, we place a high priority on providing the necessary resources and environments that promote learning and propel students toward positive achievement.

To prepare our students to serve Christ in this competitive, global world of the 21st century, we are deeply committed to both effectiveness and relevance in curriculum and learning technologies. Our academic program is comprehensive, college preparatory, and taught within a Christian framework. Beginning in kindergarten, our academic program is designed to lay a solid academic, intellectual, and spiritual foundation for our students.

Our students are difference-makers with the ability to see the world according to God’s purposes and act according to His instructions. They are prepared to be excellent communicators, to think critically, to collaborate with others, to develop creative solutions for problems, to succeed in college or in their career, and to defend their faith.

Spiritual Formation
The goal of a Unity education is to partner with parents as we seek to disciple students through academics, arts, athletics, and service opportunities. We walk with students and families through their time at Unity, instilling a Biblical worldview as we teach them to love God and understand their place in the world he has created.

We often use the term “Biblical worldview” when we’re talking about the goal of a Unity education, so it’s important to know exactly what that term means. A worldview simply means the sum total of a person’s beliefs about man, God, the world, and truth. It’s the lens through which we see everything.

We’re united in this partnership with parents by a shared mission and by shared values. Here are a few ways to see this partnership in action.

  • Philosophy of education
  • Summer mission trips
  • Bible curriculum scope and sequence
  • Weekly chapels
  • Small groups for secondary students
  • Service projects

There are many exciting things about Unity’s Athletic program – maybe most importantly how the leadership team values the opportunity for students to participate in sports. Currently, 89% of our students participate in the Athletic program.

Along with competing in GAPPS, several athletic teams also compete against local GHSA opponents. Unity has the only Clay Sport Target team in Northwest Georgia.

Over 53% of our athletes participate in both athletics and fine arts. The Fine Arts Department produces an outstanding play and amazing musical each year.

We are always encouraged to see our athletes perform in this arena. It is amazing! God is doing great things through athletics at Unity! Opportunity is valued here, and we want students to participate and embrace it.

Fine Arts
Throughout Scripture, we see evidence of God’s creativity and use of artistry to effectively communicate the greatest story ever told. We see His love for music and song in worship and celebration. We see His heart and learn lessons of discipleship in poetry and parables. And, when we look up from our study of the Scriptures, we can see His majesty all around us in the artistry of the world that surrounds us.

God is the ultimate artist. He is our example, and the reason we devote ourselves to the development and expression of the creative gifts He bestowed upon us. At Unity, we are committed to assisting our students in identifying their areas of giftedness in the arts, developing an appreciation for different forms of artistic expression, and recognizing how they can daily see and acknowledge the artistry of God in their daily lives.

Students have the opportunity to participate in the Visual Arts program beginning in Kindergarten through 12th grade. In Elementary School, visual art is part of the curriculum as a weekly class. In Middle School, students can take semester-long art courses. In High School, Unity offers a studio art class and a graphic arts class.

Students at all grade levels attend music each week. PreK through first grade students learn general music through singing, playing instruments, and movement. Second through fifth grade students begin fundamentals of choral singing along with further study of music theory and instrumental training. Middle School students rotate among choral music, technology, drama, and visual arts electives, and high school students choose among visual arts, graphic arts, drama, and musical theater for their elective opportunities.
