About the Administrative Director:
The Administrative Director enables the West Shore Free Church (WSFC) staff and church body to minister more effectively and efficiently by leading and overseeing the operational and structural aspects of the church. These include human resources, financial systems, campus operations, information systems, technical systems, legal and administrative support, risk mitigation, and safeguards.
The Administrative Director Will Have the Following Responsibilities:
Ministry Specific (80-90%)
General Administration | Oversee church office management, official church records maintenance, churchwide database, churchwide policy development, insurance management, financial and legal reviews, and contracts.
Finances | In partnership with the Executive Pastor and the Controller, oversee accounting functions including periodic statements, payables, receivables, donations, inventory, payroll, budget development, and record keeping. In partnership with the Controller, to ensure that an adequate cash flow is maintained to support the ministry, to maintain appropriate fiscal controls to fulfill our fiduciary responsibility.
Human Resources | In partnership with the Human Resources Manager, develop and implement appropriate policies and procedures in compliance with employment law; through supervision, ensure accurate personnel records maintenance, effective benefits and pay systems, and HR procedures and practices to maintain a positive work environment.
Generosity & Stewardship Development | In partnership with senior leadership and the Elder Board, create an environment where good stewardship is valued and practiced including financial counseling, stewardship development, and stewardship education.
Campus Operations | In partnership with the Campus Operations Director, oversee all aspects of campus operations. Oversight would include the development and implementation of relevant policies and procedures and capital asset management. In addition, oversee safety & security, property and liability insurance, and risk management programs.
Information Systems | In partnership with the IT Manager, oversee all aspects of the computing environment including network administration, hardware/software selection and implementation, database development, and user support and orientation.
Technical Services | Work closely with the worship ministry and technical services personnel to ensure that all ministries have the audiovisual and media capabilities needed to effectively support ministry operation.
Other Ministry | Exercising the gift of administration is one of the vital ministries in any church. While the essence of this position is the support of program ministries, other ministries are also encouraged as time, opportunity and calling converge.
Other duties as assigned including General Expectations for Ministerial Staff.
Member (and potential Co-Chair) of Elder Board sub-teams: Financial Advisory Team, Facilities Advisory Team, and/or Human Resources Advisory Team.
What You Bring:
Education & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree is a plus.
Possess significant experience and demonstrated success in the administration and leadership of a large, complex organization. Vocational or strong volunteer experience in a church context is preferred.
Possess strong foundational knowledge of the Bible; formal or informal theological training is a plus.
Affirm a clear call to serve in the local church.
A shepherd of the team while being administratively minded.
A self-motivated driver that can balance policy and procedure with ministry initiatives.
