Youth For Christ

Englewood, Colorado

Location: Englewood, Colorado

The Opportunity: Youth For Christ is currently searching for their next President/CEO who will serve as the organization's chief spiritual leader and mission mobilizer.

Meet Youth For Christ:

Youth For Christ, located outside of Denver in Englewood, Colorado, has been a pillar of missional ministry since 1944 when Rev. Billy Graham served as YFC’s first full-time staff member. Since then, Youth For Christ has continued to be both a rural and urban ministry on mission, and always about the message of Jesus.

Throughout YFC's history, there has been an unwavering commitment to youth evangelism and biblical Christianity.

One of YFC’s cornerstone slogans for over the last seven decades has been, "Geared to the Times, Anchored to the Rock.” YFC strives to both demonstrate and communicate this message of hope, grace, and love in a variety of different cultural settings, and always pursuing teens in personal relationships.

Every day at thousands of community centers, high schools, middle schools, juvenile institutions, coffee shops, and local hangouts, YFC staff and volunteers meet with young people who need Jesus. Their focus as a movement is on multiplying fruitful and sustainable ministry sites across the nation and around the world.

YFC reaches young people everywhere, working together with the local church and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to the Word of God and prayer, passion for sharing the love of Christ, and commitment to social involvement.

Youth For Christ wholeheartedly embraces the “and” of Mark 10:45. Jesus came to serve and to deliver the message of transformation. He came to embrace and to liberate. The entire organization looks to Him as they carry out that “and” — the call to act, with an eternal perspective.

YFC has a passion to minister in the name of Jesus--choosing to walk the very same bridge He used; the “and” bridge combining Christian service with Christ’s sacrifice.

Staff operate knowing they are liberated by His forgiveness and propelled by His love, to continually declare mercy and truth. They are ministers of His grace, on campuses and in juvenile halls… in wide-open spaces and on congested street corners… to the outcasts, the transparent, the terrified.

The focus as a movement is on multiplying fruitful and sustainable Ministry Sites across the nation and around the world. There are five essentials to establishing Ministry Sites. Currently being practiced at over 2,000 sites nationwide, they are:

  1. Widespread Prayer: Deliberately engaging lots of Christians to intercede on behalf of the ministry site.

  2. Loving Relationships: Consistently pursuing lost kids & engaging them in life-long relationships with Jesus.

  3. Faithful Bible Teaching: Accurately handling Biblical truth, regularly coaching kids to apply it in their lives.

  4. Collaborative Community Strategy: Intentionally working together with local churches, agencies and other partners to provide sustainable youth and family ministry.

  5. Adults Who Empower: Strategically developing leaders to reach young people from every people group.

About the President/CEO:

The President/CEO is the chief spiritual leader and mobilizer of Youth For Christ USA. This position exists to lead YFC USA with integrity, passion, wisdom and honor. That leadership includes overseeing and administering activities related to establishing a solid financial foundation and strategic direction for the organization; developing an organizational vision and leading strategies to accomplish that vision; and creating and implementing sound operational practices that help to ensure the sustainability of YFC USA’s mission. These responsibilities are accomplished in a manner that is supportive of and consistent with YFC’s Cultural Attributes: Christ-centered, Enduring Humility, Relentless Trust, Joyful Camaraderie, Courageous Faithfulness and Kingdom Inspired Diversity.

The Search Committee remains open to the leading of the Holy Spirit as candidates are engaged and considered.

  • Demonstrate a proven ability to run an organization that “doesn’t have to say yes.” YFC functions as a movement of interdependent local chapters, rather than a corporation. The ideal candidate will have a track record of leading by influence and not merely by position.

  • Demonstrate a proven ability to be entrepreneurial with focused goals, strategies, and objectives that support and further the mission.

  • Christ-Centered: A leader who points people to Jesus through personal example and communication of God’s word using the foundations of Scripture and YFC Cultural Attributes. The President/CEO will continually grow in their own relationship with Christ, as well as communicate this importance for all individuals across the movement.

  • Kingdom Inspired Diversity: Has a demonstrable and dedicated history of engagement with diverse teams and is a culturally engaged leader who can empower young leaders, women, and people of color as a part of their leadership strategy.

  • Brand Steward: Steward of the YFC USA brand and understands the need to grow and protect the reputation and results of the organization.

  • Visionary: Confronts the complex realities of the environment and simultaneously maintains faith in God and in a different and better future, providing purpose, direction, and motivation.

  • Team-Builder: First ensures that the right people are in the right roles at the right times; fostering commitment, trust, and collaboration among diverse leaders and stakeholders.

  • Outward Focused: Understands the dynamics of local, regional, and national environments, and works on agendas rooted in a community’s own perception of its needs and aspirations.

  • Business Acumen: Possesses a high-level of broad business and management skills and is effective at generating financial support for the organization.
