Bethel Church exists to “Make Disciples by building a community of whole people who, through devotion to Jesus Christ, are learning to live every day by the word of God.”
Bethel Baptist Church was formed in 1965 as a Conservative Baptist Church. It met initially in a home, and then purchased property to build a new facility in North Richland. By 1987 the church attendance was about 130, and upon experiencing much growth in both leadership and ministries, the church name was changed from Bethel Baptist Church, to Bethel Church in 1993. Today, the attendance across three campuses exceeds 3,300 with adult small groups consisting of 2,000 participants. As God continues to use the church to meet the needs of people and draw them to Himself, Bethel Church continues its 51-year vision to “make disciples” for Jesus Christ, and looks forward to a future that impacts the community for His Kingdom’s sake.
The next Senior Pastor will be a strong visionary who will continue Bethel’s mission of making disciples who love God wholeheartedly, build relationships with other Christians, obediently follow Jesus, and influence their world. This individual will be an excellent team leader and a team member who is marked by innovation and creativity that’s necessary to effectively cast vision and develop the staff of Bethel. The successful candidate will be an exceedingly strong expository preacher, a gifted speaker, and an engaging presenter, who is authentic and relatable to diverse generations. People will walk away both challenged intellectually and motivated toward personal change.
The effective Senior Pastor at Bethel Church will lead the congregation toward the purpose of making disciples. He will do this while focused on the GROW principles, and continue to build upon the strong small group foundation.
With the elders, the senior pastor will cast vision and lead the church into the next season of effective community impact and congregational growth. Each campus in the Bethel network will grow in breadth (numbers) and depth (spiritual growth), and will become more effective than ever at making disciples in our communities, including the next generation and young families.
A seminary degree is preferred, although there is more interest in a solid Bible education and less interest in where this training came from. The ideal candidate’s scope of experience and skills will include, but are not limited to:
- Minimum of five years experience in a significant leadership role with demonstrated results.
- Highly relational, motivating, and engaging in communication.
- Demonstrated ability to lead leaders.
- Proven history of engaging expository preaching.
