About the Organization:
Calvary Church (Calvary) is a growing, multi-ethnic, non-denominational evangelical church of more than 4,000 attendees located in Charlotte, NC. Calvary was founded in 1939, upon the belief in and commitment to the preeminence of Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Savior from sin and spiritual death, and on the belief in the inerrancy of the Bible in its original text. With that as its foundation, Calvary has been known throughout its history for its strong biblical teaching and for proclaiming the testimony of Jesus Christ in the greater Charlotte area.
In 1989, after a prolonged season of growth, the church moved from its original location to its current location in Mecklenburg County. The current facility sits on over 100 acres with ample parking, recreation fields, a cemetery, the Calvary Life Center, which houses its student ministries, and a beautiful Chapel. The spectacular auditorium seats more than 5,100 people and features a breathtaking pipe organ along with state of the art technology.
In 2006, the congregation unanimously called Dr. John Munro as their new Senior Pastor. Dr. Munro is known for his strong biblical teaching delivered in a conversational and authentic style. Over the past nine years, Dr. Munro has led capital campaigns that completely paid off the mortgage for the new facility and built a state of the art Life Center ($9.5 Million), without incurring additional debt. The church is now debt free and is poised for growth in the coming years.
