About the Position:
The role of the Executive Director is to assist the Session, the Senior Pastor and the staff in leading the charge and championing the vision of First Miami. The Executive Director will help identify and act upon ideas that enable each area and individual to operate more effectively, and, in doing so, to better the mission of the church. In essence, they will be a vision-carrier, administrator, and coach.
The Executive Director will serve on the four-person Senior Leadership Team, which will consist of the Senior Pastor, Executive Director and two members of The Session.
The Executive Director of First Miami will join and complement a culture of tenured, self-motivated, influential and result-driven full-time staff of 10 with an additional five part-time staff members that fuels the mission of the church. The successful candidate for this role will be organized and assertive, display excellence in the area of ministry strategy and execution, be relational, and maintain a heart for people with different personalities, skill sets, and backgrounds.
What We Are Searching For:
This role requires strong administrative giftedness, along with excellent verbal and written skills, so the successful candidate must possess the ability to communicate tactfully and think creatively and innovatively regarding how to help the local church and its staff as effectively as possible. The successful candidate must be a ‘strategist,’ progress and results oriented, and capable of turning ideas into action.
As the chief-of-staff, this individual will be responsible for accountability, development, and coaching of the entire staff team. The person will be highly solution-oriented, to encourage, equip, and empower the staff to perform at their best. As the primary overseer of ministry design and implementation, the Executive Director will be an orchestrator of systems and pathways that strengthen and sustain the effectiveness of each ministry.
A master’s degree is preferred. The list of competencies for this position will include, but are not limited to:
- A strong history of leadership, complemented by a record of accomplishments of setting and sustaining a church culture.
- Capability to design and implement strategic systems to facilitate steps for spiritual transformation to occur.
- Substantial executive level experience in comparable organization(s), ministry or professional.
- Preferred background in a church model with more than 500 in weekly attendance.
- Preferred an ordained teaching elder (minister of the word and sacrament) in PC (USA).
- Possess extensive pastoral or life experience, with additional experience in leadership development, team building, delegation, and organization/administration.

First Miami is located on a 3.5-acre site on Miami’s Brickell Avenue to the west and the picturesque Biscayne Bay to the East. Brickell Avenue is the hub of the historic “Brickell” district that is Miami’s most densely populated area.
