About the Organization:
The Grace Story
Grace began on Christmas Eve 2000 when a small group of people joined to form a new church. They didn’t know what this new church would be or should be, they just figured God would lead them in due time. Naturally they assumed it would head down a traditional church path of membership and organization, but God had other plans.
A Church For People Who Don’t Go To Church
It all started on a plane. After 18 months of some pretty serious prayer, God finally spoke at 30,000 feet. Those nine words – “A Church For People Who Don’t Go To Church” – were the first definitive impression from God on what Grace would be (maybe the extra height helped). Now to be honest with you, we were not exactly sure what those nine words meant. We could have tried to explain it, but why try. We just started putting that simple phrase on all our printed materials and on our website and what we soon realized is it resonated with people who had been bored by church, burned by church, or just flat out never went to church. They would say things like, “I don’t go to church so I figured this was the place for me.” God had a few more surprises for Grace. Things like no membership, no formal offering collection, and no pressure to believe. We focused our energy on respecting people wherever they were spiritually and doing our best to build healthy relationships.
Today Grace is a vibrant community of people from all kinds of backgrounds, beliefs and walks of life. We can’t guarantee we will have all the answers you are looking for, but we can assure you we will always respect and honor your spiritual journey, wherever you are. So whether you’re just taking a peek into a relationship with Christ or you're already fully committed to Him, we warmly invite you to give Grace a try.

About the Location:
Arlington, Virginia is the best of two worlds – a short trek to some of the most scenic views of the northern Appalachian and Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and bordering the metropolitan city of Washington D.C. With a population of about 230,000 people, it is the fourth largest city in Virginia if it was incorporated as such. It is technically a county in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the second largest principal city of the Washington Metropolitan area.
40 percent of Virginia’s transit trips begin or end in Arlington, and it has an extensive metro line that can crisscross the city efficiently. But it also utilizes a bike share system, met with growing popularity among commuters and those who live in the city.
Arlington Public Schools operates the county’s public K-12 education system of 22 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, and 4 public high schools. Arlington County spends about half its revenue on education. Education can be selective, with a cap to the number of students allowed to enrolled at special magnet high schools in the area, but the education offered by them is excellent. Arlington also has several private schools and religious education opportunities. It is also in close proximity to many private and smaller or liberal arts colleges in the area, as well as a short distance from most of the best Ivy League universities.
It’s tucked away on the banks of the Potomac River directly across from Washington D.C. and is home to many important installations for the capital region and U.S. government, including the Pentagon, Reagan National Airport, and Arlington National Cemetery. It is a place where one can’t help but feel energized by the buzz of activity happening in Washington D.C., yet it is close enough to other neighborhoods and regions in Washington, such as Alexandria, that it’s a bridge to a quieter respite from the constant activity of the nation’s capital.
