About the Organization:
Located on Florida’s Space Coast, Park Avenue Baptist Church focuses on impacting every person in Titusville and the surrounding area with a relevant expression of what God is really like. "Pursuing God and Loving People" is the primary Mission of Park Avenue.
Established in 1969, Park Ave. Baptist Church was led for thirty years by Peter Lord, founder and former Senior Pastor. During his tenure a Christian School that ministers to K3 through 8th grade and a Retreat Center were built on the church campus. Both of these ministries continue to thrive to this day. For the past 17 years, Peter Lord’s son, Richard, has shepherded the church with a passion for teaching spiritual truths as well as walking out his faith with authenticity and transparency.
The church has retained a history of intercessory prayer, which is a part of their DNA. In support of this ministry, a Prayer Chapel was dedicated in 1974 and is frequented regularly by individuals and groups. The Sunday worship service’s average weekly attendance is 500, many of whom are longtime members. This highly relational community of multi-generational believers is evidenced by their weekly small groups and support group meetings. The church has a high commitment to equipping and releasing members into ministry. There is a strong emphasis on foreign & local missions with numerous short-term trips and local outreach projects offered. Among the staff there is a strong and cohesive team spirit which supports a trustworthy environment.

About the Location:
Centrally located 45 minutes east of Orlando, Brevard County, also known as Florida’s Space Coast, is a place where technology, history and nature all come together. With over 72 miles of coastline, Brevard County includes many coastal communities and sandy beaches on barrier islands. Playalinda Beach, part of the Canaveral National Seashore, is one of America’s most beautiful and pristine beaches. The Space Coast is a transportation hub with in-county access to air, sea, space, and interstate highways.
Titusville, located in the northern part of Brevard County, is the next door neighbor to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Canaveral National Seashore, and Port Canaveral cruise terminals. Known as the "Gateway to Nature and Space," Titusville has an abundance of outdoor parks, playgrounds, recreation areas and nature experiences for people of all ages to enjoy year-round. The local economy is based on the aerospace industry, tourism, and agriculture, particularly citrus. Driven in part by the NASA facilities, there are a number of high tech firms in the area. The commercial space industry is once again prospering with many new private companies clustering in and around Kennedy Space Center which is one of the county's top employers.
With a population of more than 43,000, Titusville is the county seat of Brevard and the third largest city. In the recently renovated historic district downtown, there are antique treasures and quaint local shops to explore. A new Splash Pad is being erected in Sand Point Park which is adjacent to the Indian River. Monthly downtown street parties include a chili cook-off, local band contests and imported "snow" for kids to enjoy in December. A variety of seasonal activities are offered - from strawberry and blueberry picking at local farms to outdoor events like the annual Birding Festival and watching sea turtles nest. Local dining options include Dixie Crossroads, a landmark restaurant, famous for its rock shrimp. Whether it’s museums, theater, antiquing, hiking, biking, fishing, skydiving or kite boarding, there is plenty to do.
Compared to the rest of the country, Titusville’s cost of living is 12.6% lower than the national average, which makes it a great place to call home. With a temperate year-round climate, an affordable housing market, and many new businesses being drawn to Titusville, both young families and retirees are relocating to this family-friendly community which is less than an hour’s drive to the major theme parks and other attractions in Orlando, Daytona, Melbourne and Cocoa Beach.
