About the Organization:
Willow Creek Community Church (WCCC, Willow Creek, or Willow) is a thriving, multisite church with a weekly attendance of more than 25,000 people. Willow has achieved broad, global influence across a wide range of denominations and throughout the business world as a resource for those seeking to implement “best practices.” These have largely been in the areas of reaching those far from God through relevant, biblical teaching and weekend services, developing impactful teams, providing world-class leadership training, building organizational excellence, and leading compassion and justice initiatives that change the community and the world.
Current Senior Pastor Bill Hybels founded Willow Creek in 1975 and continues to spearhead the leadership of the church, alongside an executive team and a broader leadership team of ministry directors.
About the Position:
The core responsibility of the Director of Evangelism will be to inspire, equip, empower, and mobilize the section communities of the South Barrington campus to evangelize in local, regional, and global capacities. This role will strengthen the evangelistic pulse of Willow Creek Community Church, as it shapes its endeavors around the church’s ‘Reach’ strategy.
The successful prospect will have a passion for evangelism and the leadership gifting to shape vision and strategy for all Willow Section Communities and small groups to reach their friends, neighbors and co-workers. This person, and the team he or she leads, will be responsible for leading Willow’s centralized Alpha Course offerings, and also training others to host de-centralized Alpha courses in their neighborhoods and workplaces. By and large, this individual will be a strong innovator, implementer, and executor.

As an inspirational leader and an excellent team builder, this individual will possess the ability to effectively cast a vision, gather support and motivate a team to achieve the said vision. They will be skilled at reaching out to those far from God and inviting them in, by use of strong interpersonal skills, inventive programming, and organizational planning capabilities.
The successful candidate will likely have an undergraduate college degree.
Prior experience leading and building teams and developing volunteers will be imperative for this position, while prior experience with the Alpha Course methodology is highly preferred. The successful candidate for the role of Director of Evangelism will additionally possess the following qualities:
- Proven experience in a key leadership position in a large-church ministry environment.
- A track record of a successful leader and administrator.
- Exceedingly effective communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Demonstrated team building expertise.
- Strong biblical knowledge.
