BLUFFTON, South Carolina – The Church of the Cross, an Anglican Church in Bluffton, South Carolina, has expanded its leadership team with a key hire. Rev. Kevin Cook will join The Church of the Cross as their new Assistant Rector and Chaplain. The Church of the Cross serves 1,550 members in the South Carolina area.

Kevin joins The Church of the Cross staff after serving as Assistant Pastor at St. Peter’s Anglican Church since 2017. Kevin, an Anglican priest, and pastor with strengths in preaching, teaching, worship, building communities, and leading change, brings also extensive leadership experience and theological background to his new role, making him a natural fit for The Church of the Cross.

The Vanderbloemen Difference is that theology matters - the Vanderbloemen staff has more seminary and theological experience than any other search firm, with 200+ collective years of Christian leadership. Vanderbloemen is honored to have partnered with The Church of the Cross and the Anglican denomination on this vital and important hire, and we’re thrilled for them in this next season of leadership.

“The Church of the Cross is reaching people for Christ that no one else is reaching!  They are strategic in their vision and location,” Executive Search Consultant Jeff Bigelow said. “It was a privilege to partner with them to help find their new Assistant Rector and Chaplain. I can't wait to see the amazing things that God will do at The Church of the Cross as Kevin joins their team. To God be the glory!"

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1975, The Church of the Cross is a growing congregation that builds on a rich tradition in the Anglican Church. The historic church on Calhoun Street provides a scenic stop on many Lowcountry tours and that makes their congregants proud, but they also believe the legacy of The Church of the Cross reaches much deeper than its impressive facade. Just as plain pine boards grew into an extraordinary building, they are evolving from a simple country parish to serve a growing and changing community: locally, regionally, and globally. The Church of the Cross gives thanks for their rich past, looks forward to meeting today’s challenges, and nurtures their faith in a bright future in a new season of senior leadership.
