BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, has expanded their staff with a key hire, with Christopher White now serving as their new Minister to Students.

Dawson Memorial Baptist Church serves more than 2500 attendees each week and is a pillar of faith in their community in central Alabama.

Christopher previously served as the Student Pastor at Highland Colony Baptist Church in Ridgeland, Mississippi prior to joining the team at Dawson. He brings extensive student ministry experience to his new role and joins the Dawson community along with his wife Kayla, and two children.

“We have a history of search work with Dawson Memorial and it was very important for us to find someone who would keep the heart, core values, and passion of their Student Ministry, while also helping it to grow and thrive for the future,”  Executive Search Consultant Brian Dunks said.

“Chris White is a fantastic person to do this as he understands the tradition and heart of Dawson and also brings a fantastic vision for his new role as Student Minister. We were able to see God orchestrate the whole process hand and are thrilled for Dawson in this new season of growth for their staff and students.”

“The whole Vanderbloemen process helped us see we had to broaden certain things we were looking for in a candidate,” Discipleship Pastor Brad Gowing said.

Vanderbloemen is honored to have partnered with Dawson to find the right person for their student ministry, and are celebrating with them in this next season.

Dawson Memorial Baptist Church is a large Baptist church affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and located in the city of Homewood, a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama. Often called the “Dawson Family of Faith” or just “Dawson,” the church, first established in 1920 as Edgewood Baptist Church, has a rich history and a bright future. Members and guests gather for worship each week on campus coming from a 20-minute radius around the church’s property. Hundreds of young families are drawn to Dawson each year because of the importance the ministries have placed on laying a godly foundation and investing in the lives of the next generation at a young age. Dawson’s best asset is her people, easily seen through its emphasis on family and relationships.
