MURRAY, Kentucky - Westside Baptist Church in Murray, Kentucky has expanded its leadership team by appointing Merrick Nunn as Lead Pastor. Westside Baptist was originated in June 1981, when 60 people met at Murray City Park to discuss God’s will for their future. Today, Westside is a Southern Baptist congregation that has grown to over 800 people. Westside’s goal is to “help the uncommitted become committed to Christ, His church, and His cause for God's glory.”

Merrick Nunn has been in ministry for many years and has a huge heart for churches with colleges or universities in close proximity. With Murray State University nearby, Murray is a perfect town for Merrick and his family to transition to. Merrick is highly relational, loves to preach, and desires to build up disciples and fulfill the great commission. Merrick grew up in a town similar in size to Murray, KY. He’s used to having a major university in the middle of the city and is eager for the opportunities available in this new town. Merrick looks forward to linking arms in ministry with Westside Baptist Church.

“Merrick and his wife, Emily, along with their 3 children look forward to this journey in “the Friendliest Small Town in America.” They are eager to live and raise their family here, and I think it is a great fit for them. Vanderbloemen is honored to have partnered with Westside Baptist on this critical search, and we’re thrilled for them in this next season of pastoral leadership,” shares Tim Gocha, Primary Recruiter for this hire.
