“We’ll definitely be looking to Vanderbloemen when it’s time to make our next big hire. You all know what you’re doing and have figured the process out and it works.”

Shane Hart, Lead Pastor of Capital City Church

"Aside from myself as the lead pastor, the person leading worship is going to be the most visible. They have to be the right person that fits us and fits us well."

This is how Capital City Church's Lead Pastor, Shane Hart, described his thought process surrounding the hiring of their next Worship and Creative Director.

“I HAD SPOKEN WITH OTHER PASTORS OF CHURCHES QUITE LARGER THAN OURS, AND HEARD THEY WERE STRUGGLING WITH THEIR WORSHIP PASTOR SEARCHES, TOO. I KNEW IF THEY WERE HAVING TROUBLE WITH ALL OF THEIR RESOURCES, WE WOULD ALSO NEED HELP.”

Capital City Church is an Assemblies of God church of 150 in Columbus, Ohio. As Pastor Shane continues to cast and lead the vision for the church - a vision for growth and culture change - he knew how important this hire would be to the livelihood of the vision. Having just left behind a tough staffing season, they knew they needed to make the right hire.

"There was no room for error," he recalled. "Music is powerful and important to our society." They were not only looking for someone that would fit their DNA, but someone that was also musically competent and could lead their congregation well.

Engaging Vanderbloemen allowed Pastor Shane to keep his focus on his ministry and on leading his staff well – all while a full time search for his next Worship Pastor was happening. It also broadened their network of candidates and exposed them to people they may have never had the opportunity to connect with otherwise.

"While this wasn't our first ever hire, it was the first hire that wasn't from our circle of personal contacts," he said. "The nationwide search aspect of the process, and being able to go outside of our typical circles of influence and knowledge was where Vanderbloemen brought the most value to us."

And at the end of a 3 month search, Capital City Church hired Nathan Sutherland from Eugene, Oregon as their next Worship and Creative Director.

“Overall we had a great experience. We’ll definitely be looking to Vanderbloemen when it’s time to make our next big hire. You all know what you’re doing and have figured the process out and it works.”
