Meet Horizon Church:

Horizon Christian Fellowship North County traces its history to Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, and Pastor Chuck Smith. Pastor Chuck founded Calvary Chapel in the late 60’s. Pastor Mike MacIntosh, an assistant to Pastor Chuck, felt led to begin a home Bible study in San Diego in 1973, and by the summer of 1976, Horizon Christian Fellowship was officially started. In 1993, a Horizon church plant was started in San Diego’s North County at the Del Mar Hilton.  It began with less than 60 people and Pastor Mike handed over the pastoring responsibilities to one of his assistant pastors, Bob Botsford. With the completion of the current facility in Rancho Santa Fe, the church has taken off. In addition to ministering to over 3,000 people weekly, Horizon Christian Fellowship supports a variety of missionaries and mission organizations, so the true impact of God’s work through Horizon is one of global proportions.

About the Worship Leader:

Horizon Church is looking for the next Worship Leader who will lead the congregation in faithful corporate worship that is glorifying to God, musically rich, and biblically sound. Musically, we aim to incorporate the best of hymnody and contemporary songs, and our worship services aim to make full use of Scripture reading, prayer, and congregational participation. The Worship Leader provides leadership for the music ministry as a whole, including the many volunteer teams required to carry out the weekly corporate worship of the church.

The Worship Leader's Responsibilities Include: 

• Shepherd, encourage, and provide leadership for an effective music ministry that is consistent with Horizon Church’s doctrine and values, and develop systems that will foster a healthy, God-honoring worship ministry culture.

• Plan and lead the weekly corporate worship services of Horizon Church, working under the direction of, and in collaboration with, the Executive Pastor.

• Provide direction for, and work in collaboration with the Audio/Technical and Production departments.

• Recruit, develop, train, and encourage the worship volunteer team 

• Meet regularly with key leaders to evaluate, improve, plan and encourage.

• Under the direction of the Executive Pastor, oversee the collaborative design of seasonal events (Christmas, Easter) and special worship services.

• Schedule musicians and volunteers, lead regular rehearsals, and provide timely musical support and clear communication.

• Develop current musicians and volunteers through ongoing training, feedback, mentoring, and encouragement.

• Ability to lead effective rehearsals.

What You Bring: 

The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate:

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred

• Minimum of 3 years of worship ministry experience

Personal Characteristics, Skills, and Abilities

• A vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and commitment to the Horizon Church Statement of Faith

• Proficiency with Planning Center, ProPresenter and Ableton preferred

• Strong vocal ability and mastery of a lead instrument such as guitar or piano.
