Vanderbloemen Retained by The Moody Church for Senior Pastor Search

The Moody Church in Chicago, Illinois, has retained Vanderbloemen to assist them in their search for a new Senior Pastor. Vanderbloemen will begin work with the search committee this summer.

250x150 (11)-1“This search only succeeds through prayer and discernment, and we need all the prayers we can get,“ said William Vanderbloemen, founder and CEO of Vanderbloemen.

“We have done hundreds of searches over the last decade. All of them are different, and all of them are important. But there are few churches we have served that have had such a deep impact on the Kingdom, and Moody is on that list. We are humbled that a place like Moody would ask us to help guide them to the pastor God is raising up. This church has been a pillar of spiritual strength in Chicago since the time it was founded.”

Since 1864, The Moody Church has been a place of connection for people. Founding Pastor D.L. Moody once wrote, “Cities are centers of influence. Water runs downhill and the highest hills in America are the great cities. If we can stir them up, we can stir the whole country.”

In Pastor D.L. Moody’s day, only 10% of the world’s population lived in cities; today it’s over 50%, and the urbanization rate continues to increase. Cities no longer shape only their surrounding areas, they shape the world.

The Chicago skyline has changed around it since then, but The Moody Church has remained steadfast in its mission of sharing the gospel in the city and around the world.

For over 150 years, many have taken up the mantle of D.L. Moody and led this congregation in the furtherance of the gospel. Men such as A.C. Dixon, Warren Wiersbe, Harry A. Ironside, and Erwin W. Lutzer, among many others, have helped establish a legacy of service at The Moody Church. Under their visionary leadership, the congregation has grown, ministries have expanded, and hearts and lives have been changed.

“This opportunity to be a part of The Moody Church’s search is an honor for Vanderbloemen, and we are excited to be in this sacred space with them as they search for a new Senior Pastor,” said Tim Stevens, Vice President of Consulting at Vanderbloemen. “We have confidence that God will bring the right leader for The Moody Church and we’re looking forward to partnering with them in this season.”
